When Dr.Andrew Foster found the site for the deaf in 1957 and taught them how to learn sign languages only but some hearing educated people using deaf to speaking not sign languages ,that made Dr,Andrew unhappy and left the shore of Ghana for Nigeria and other countries . That is why Mampong Akwapim School has been lacking of useful facilities for the deaf students accessbiiiles in a result of government never being never the Mampong Akwapim school for the deaf compound since 1957. We are deedly saddened by the heartless chiefs ordered the Mampong Akwapim school for the deaf to be removed. It is quite disgrace for our country's only senior school repuation.I believe deaf education to be a level of discrimmiation made by the non-pitious present government and even Mampong Akwapim chiefs. God only saves Mampong Akwapim School for the deaf through the open -heartedly philanthropists,Amen.

There is something wrong, how can a school that take care of all these people from these countries and has been in operation since 1957 does not own her own property. The shame should go first to the school operators, the chief of town, present and those who have ruled in the past and the Ghana education system and all the present and former Presidents of Ghana. Someone has being receiving funds toward this school and never use it to improve their living standard, therefore anyone how has taken a penny away from the school should be found and punished.

I seem to wonder if Ghana has true leaders with the sense of duty for caring for the needs of the people? I supposed that the school had been doing well during the time of our selfless leader Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, at the time that we did not have that much financial resource. Now that we have this much resources to be able to take care of the needs of the people, the resource is going to judgement debts. This judgement debts has become secret industry for the greedy leaders in the county. What a shame. For me I have always predicted that one these greedy leaders of the country will run and leave their sandals - the proverbial language.

My goodness!!! I heard about this establishment when I was in the elementary school. I thought it was a nice step for the government to have a school for the deaf but what I did not know is that the school is somebody's house. What prevents the government from building a school for the deaf? Something is not right!!!I do not think it requires very much money to provide a building for the school. President Mahama, please let this be one of your projects. Ghananians and the death will remember your presidency by it.

Mr. Nathan Pecku, Headmaster of the school, Please contact an architectural consultants let them donate you a school plan, contact the MP of the area, and the paramount chief of the area, go with them to the president, present the plan to him and let him know your problems. Tell him it is a case of emergency, the school need a school building urgently. Make yourself and the Praramount chief the project leaders. Open a Bank account and make it public for us all to contribute into it. The president would react immediately to save your poor situation. I wish you good luck.

For folks who may not know it, The Mampong Akwapim School for the Deaf is really the first "First Ghana Mission School for the Deaf" which first opened its doors at the Osu Presby Boys' Day school in Osu, Accra in 1957. The School was moved the next year, 1958, to Mampong-Kwapim and housed in a house leased from the then Mampong-Akwapim chief, Nana Anoba Sasraku II.

As the school grew and many more schools for the deaf have been added to it around the country, the original school was turned into a Secondary School for Deaf Youth.

It is a real shame the Ghana Government has allowed this gem of institutions to continue in rented premises 57 years after its foundation!!
