Komla Dumor was a very talented journalist and will be greatly missed by family and friends.His wit, ability to draw out the most reticent subjects during interviews was great. However it seems wholly inappropriate for some Ghanaian quarters and leading personalities to make outlandish suggestions of holding a"state funeral" for Dumor.Does working for a foreign organization such as the BBC qualify one to have a state funeral? Aren't we rather glorifying the BBC, an organization set up with the primary aim of promoting British interests abroad? The fawning attitude of many so-called Ghanaian intellectuals towards the BBC is nauseating and very troubling. It hacks to a colonial era when the British colonialists called all the shots. It is time that we also started taking some pride in our own organizations.We now live in an era of multiple sources of news many of which now provide a far more balanced account of current affairs and local news than the BBC. Let me also also point out to those Ghanaian fantacist with romanticized views of the BBC that Komla Dumor had to put up with a lot at BBC London: constant subtle put downs, pettiness and racial discrimination from British colleagues.To say that he was happy at the BBC would be a bare faced lie.HE ENDURED HIS TIME THERE. So let's have a sense of proportion and stop this sentimental nonsense folk.

KNUST should also organize Hackathons, as is now the tradition in all the top schools in the world (MIT, UPENN, Princeton, Yale, etc_).
