The Chief Justice knows the judges who have sympathy with the NPP. The intention was to enable the Chief Justice appoint judges who have sympathy for the NPP to sit on cases involving the NPP members in order free them.
CHIEF JUSTICE THEODORA WOOD SHOULD THANK LATE PRESIDENT MILLS BY NOT APPOINTING A COMMITTEE TO PROBE AND REMOVE HER.

Chronicle's Kofi Koomson sleeping soundly without a threat from Akuffo Addo

The Chronicle’s Nana Kofi Koomson stunned many in the country when he took an uncompromising stand in 2008 and without mincing words announced that he would never feel comfortable in the event Mr. Akuffo Addo became Ghana’s president.

Mr. Koomson’s singularly act in rejecting, denouncing and renouncing the defeated 2008 NPP presidential candidate like the big bang about to befall Ghanaians underscores the popular aphorism that the frog which emerges from the waters to announce the drowning of a crocodile must be taken with all seriousness. After all, the two men had been in the UP/NPP trenches and had known each other from inside-out for a considerable period of time when they plotted against the PNDC/NDC, culminating in their senseless Kume-Preko Demonstrations in the 1990s.

Albeit their long time friendship and Mr. Koomson’s declaration that he had been in association with Mr. Addo for a number of years, he mustered and marshaled the courage to dissuade Ghanaians from voting for his once bosom friend. In a profound consternation among Ghanaians when Mr. Koomson was washing his friend’s dirty linen in public, one could sense and feel the awe, the anguish, the nightmare and the utmost concern vibrating in Mr. Koomson’s voice during a radio interview in which he stated categorically that the defeated candidate, Mr. Akuffo Addo is really an unqualified character who should never be allowed near the presidency. He reinforced his stance by declaring that he could never sleep a wink in the unlikely event of Mr. Addo Dankwa-Akuffo Addo becoming president of Nkrumah’s Ghana.
In the nutshell, Mr. Koomson was telling Ghanaians and the whole world that indeed Mr. Akuffo Addo had the potential of plunging the country into unimaginable consequences due to his vindictiveness, temperamental, arrogance, womanizing, lack of coordination and organization and penchant for anything that appears in skirt.

And like a bad omen about to befall a generation, the wikileaks’ revelations about Akuffo Addo have re-echoed and confirmed Kofi Koomson’s assertion without a shred of doubt.

While complimenting Mr. Koomson for the stance he took against the NPP candidate in order to help preserve the sanctity, unity and peace in Ghana, we must hasten to add that the former suffered a barrage of embarrassment and humiliation at the hands of Akuffo Addo and his NPP hit squad.
By attempting to avoid a theory called the Groupthink Mentality (a hallmark of NPP) postulated by psychologist Irving Irving L. Janis in 1971 whereby Mr. Koomson played the devil’s advocate on behalf of Ghanaians, Mr. Akuffo Addo and his thugs descended heavily on him and employed all communists’ tactics imaginable against him in his quest to enter into Ghana’s august house.

As a payback for voicing his concern over Akuffo Addo’s unfitness to lead the country, thus calling on the electorates to jettison him, a huge impediment was placed in Mr. Koomson’s way by his own party-NPP. And going by a symptom of the Groupthink theory which dilates on Unanimity (members of a groupthink share an illusion of unanimity within the group concerning almost all judgments expressed by members who speak in favor of the majority view), the NPP declared en masse that Kofi Koomson be debarred from contesting one of the parliamentary slots in the Western Region. He was, at a point in time, threatened with a court action by Ghana’s apostles of democracy for adopting the party’s insignias in his campaign. God knows what became of Mr. Koomson’s parliamentary ambitions.

Even though we cannot pinpoint with certainty as to what happened to Mr. Koomson’s parliamentary ambitions, we know for sure that Akuffo Addo was humiliated at the polls in 2008, thus nipping his unbridled ambitions in the bud for four years. We also know for sure that the victory of the NDC in the 2008 polls ensured Kofi Koomson’s sound sleep and the protection of his newspaper empire for four years. And oh, Thank God Almighty Ghana was salvaged from the hands of a warmonger, a womanizer and a drug addict whose mornings are heralded by thick clouds comparable to smoke emitting from a seventy year old locomotive engine.

Nana Kofi Koomson and discerning Ghanaians are reassured once again that even though the NPP is deep seated in the Groupthink theory of Rationalization, whereby members ignore warnings or develop rationalizations to discount the warnings and negative feedback as pertains to Mr. Akuffo Addo’s infamous “wee” Akanfuor and all-die-be-die speech, the NDC will thrash the NPP in the 2012 elections to give them another four year sound sleep as well as protecting their businesses, except the cocaine ones, of course. Indeed, Nana Koomson is assured beyond any reasonable doubt that Ghana will never die and that Akuffo Addo will be retired from politics and consigned to run a corner store at Kyebi, come 2013.

This has lead to the to formation of unemployment graduate association in Ghana which is a very embarrassing situation for a nation like Ghana. There is a great cap between the job market and our educational system. As a developing country our educational system should be geared towards the development needs of the country.

Actually, we can still patent inventions derived from existing patents. These are officially called "Use Patents".

For instance, the LED (Light Emitting Diode), is a patented technology. But if you use an LED bulb to develop a novel mosquito repeller, that device can be patented (as a USE PATENT).

Same with the smartphone, which is loaded with dozens of patents. You can still patent a device that uses a smartphone to open a door, for instance.

We should just focus on generating NOVEL IDEAS even if they depend on existing inventions.

What Are Improvement Patents and New Use Patents?

When you're looking for patentable innovations, be sure to consider improvements made to existing products. This class of patents -- called improvement inventions -- are issued frequently. Improvement patents can add something to an existing product, incorporate new technology into an old product, or find a new use for an existing product.
Improvement Patents
Most patents granted today are improvement patents. These patents protect the differences between a new product and previously existing products and services of the same kind. Improvement patents can be further broken down into "addition" or "substitution" inventions.
Addition inventions. An addition invention adds something to what came before. The Gillette Mach3 razor, for example, had three blades where previous razors had two.
Substitution inventions. Jeff Bezos, substituted the "one-click" purchasing feature for the prior virtual shopping cart model -- a substitution invention.
Improvement patents can be valuable. Do not underestimate the value of improvement patents. In their book, Innovation: The Five Disciplines for Creating What Customers Want, authors Curtis R. Carlson and William W. Wilmot write that "smaller innovations can be extremely important, especially as one builds upon another."
Should you seek a patent for an improvement? Whether you should seek an improvement patent depends on whether or not the patentable differences provide you with a worthwhile competitive advantage.
For example, the third blade difference in the Gillette Mach3 razor was valuable enough to Gillette to spend untold millions advertising and distributing the new razor. Compared to those costs, the patent and litigation costs incurred in going after Schick were inconsequential.
Incorporating New Technologies into Old Products
Another way to get an improvement patent is to incorporate new technology into old products.
For example, when microprocessors became affordable, companies obtained improvement patents for existing devices that were previously controlled by analog circuitry that now use microprocessors.
New Uses for Existing Inventions
You can also get an improvement patent for an innovation that provides a new use for an existing invention. For example, in 2000, the Federal Circuit allowed a patent for the idea of using Bag Balm -- an ointment normally used to soothe irritated cow udders -- to treat human baldness. The court found it patentable, because it's a new use of a known composition.

ICT should dominate the syllabus from basic education to the uni. This should be coupled with general education in technology: engineering and construction in all aspects, design and manufacturing.

Legal education should be reformed and deepened to embrace domestic and international law options.

The legal framework should focus on independent enforcement: judicial and ADR domestic and international.

The polytechnics in particular deserve special attention. First, use attractive salaries to divert university-trained scientists and technologists to teach at the polytechnics (which by name should be transformed into regional "Institutes of Technology").

It is not hard to see what we need to do if you analyze the factors that make South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore very different from Ghana today.

I'd suggest she first make "radical changes" in the corrupt Judiciary System to help abate the ordeal of lawlessness and the denial of justice the poor Ghanaian goes through before crying for those "radical changes" in the education system. Are the rich and corrupt govt. officials ever tried and found guilty to be sent to prison? THEODORA GEORGINA WOOD is a stolen European name! I'd suggest she change her name to an authentic Ghanaian name so that she'll be proud of her true Ghanaian identity and be able to serve the country without fear. You have become handicapped by this stolen European name of triple jeopardy! The poor who commits a minor offence of stealing a tube of cassava is tried, found guilty and sent to prison for 10 years whereas the justice system turns blind eyes to those thieves at the government establishment. They never become arrested and prosecuted because of the practice of cronyism among themselves. Theodora Georgina Wood has vested interest in the booty out of the corrupt practices of her cronies of the Judiciary and therefore would rather throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians by talking about "radical changes" in education instead of talking about the corrupt judiciary system in Ghana. Do not become an ostrich to hide your head in the sand and try to make fools of Ghanaians!

Chief don't just talk because for so long a time since the time of the Garvey's, Africans having talking without action. Only action will bring us closer to the dream to Unite as One. Let's make our own policies and amend our Constitution to suit our way if living. Until Leaders start tackling it from there, we will have the Gold, Timber, Oil, Marijuana and Diamonds etc and still beg those who have Nothing but Money to dictate our governance. Chief Justice, please caution too..... the road to true freedom is rough, more that one even be prepared to die fir thus noble cause. You can't do it alone but for me up for this.
