  I believe in, support, and an educator myself. The benefits of education is without a measure and every child in this world regardless of the ethnic, national, or religious background have the right to and must be educated.
  However, I disagree with you that a child without education is a liability. I understand what cycle of problems lack of education can bring about but to conclude that an uneducated child is a liability is less than truth and reality. In our society and most societies actually, so many people without formal education have positively changed the world. So many of individuals in Ghana and around the world. Again, I am not disagreeing with the fact that education is great and worthy for every child. But then, when a child is not fortunate to be educated should not been a forgone conclusion that he/she will become a liability. I am even more worried "the denial of education of a boy-child makes him become deviant and anti-social while the girl-child engages in prostitution and cheap labour". There are millions of discipline and responsible women and men in our society who did not sit in a class for a day.
  On the contrary, there are thousands of people who are liability on their families, country, and the world even though they probably may have received the best education possible. Again, there are thousands of girls in JSS, SSS, and all educational institutions who are prostitutes in Ghana. The same way we have thousands of young educated boys and those still getting their education being drug addicts, drug dealers, armed robbers and so on. We have had MPs worst than truck pushers in Ghana and some even drug traffickers. Now, let's talk a little about corruption. Which caliber of people are most corrupt in Ghana and the world? Educated individuals and supposedly responsible positions. What do we see in schools and colleges, the very places where children should be trained to not just productive citizens but also morally responsible and disciplined individuals. We cheat in exams, admissions, results, and school placements. Who do these? Educated people.
  Therefore, while I will hate to see a child not educated, I will not conclude that a child is a liability if unfortunately he/she is educated. I stand for corrections.

  Once we establish the PURPOSE of education, then it becomes clear whether uneducated children would be liabilities, in the light of that purpose.
  
  If education is for nation-building, solving societal problems, alleviating suffering, serving humanity, preparing the future for prosperity, etc, then you could consider education even mandatory for all.
  
  Even in such a case, where the purpose has clearly been identified, one should DEFINE what education really entails: acquisition of useful knowledge and skills, or the mere accumulation of credentials?
  
  After all, the atomic bomb was developed by highly educated indivduals, including a number of Nobel laureates. Similarly, one can educate a student all about door locks, their mechanisms, fabrication, and how to pick locks creatively -- all for the purpose of robbing banks.
  
  So we need to first establish the definition and the purpose of education.

  When April didn't stir, little Johnny, a boy seated in the chair behind her, took a pin and jabbed her in the rear. "GOD ALMIGHTY!" shouted April and the teacher said, "Very good" and April fell back asleep.
  
  A while later the teacher asked April, "Who is our Lord and Saviour," But, April didn't even stir from her slumber. Once again, Johnny came to the rescue and stuck her again. 'JESUS CHRIST!" shouted April and the teacher said, "very good," and April fell back to sleep.
  
  Then the teacher asked April a third question. "What did Eve say to Adam after she had her twenty-third child?" And again, Johnny jabbed her with the pin. This time April jumped up and shouted, "IF YOU STICK THAT F*****G THING IN ME ONE MORE TIME, I'LL BREAK IT IN HALF AND STICK IT UP YOUR ARSE!"
  
  The Teacher fainted.

  The student is the first to reap the benefit of education 51%, the parents 24%, the state 25%. So they must contribute to the costs in that proportion.
  
  Given money to support education, the rest depends on management of the Fund to achieve the overriding education objectives.
  
  My five children went to independent schools in the UK where my wife and myself paid the fees. The result met our expectations.
  
  But let me tell you about the approach in the independent School: Discipline, Parents involvement in the Schooling of the Child, Food and Nutrition service in the School, Teachers were qualified and devoted to teaching, Extra curriculum activities and all that created interests for the child.
  
  I repeat. The result met our expectations. The child has real education and has no problem in getting a job in the UK and outside UK and enjoy life in full.

  Half-baked education is more dangerous than illiteracy. An uneducated child with virtues is one thousand times better than an educated child whose mind is corrupt.
