As energy demand goes up building codes must change to make them more energy efficient. Ceilings as well as doors and windows must have specifications. There must be incentives for those who conserve energy. I suggest there should be a threshold of power which should be cheap. Beyond that the rate must double. In Europe and elsewhere, this is practiced. People insulate their homes to make their euros go far. Not in Ghana where air con is on and at the same time windows are opened. I have seen this at the ministries at Osu. Time to wake up!!!!

How do you conserve you do not have at all, Mr minister? If this the thinking of the man responsible for energy, then we have to sell our fridges, learn to live in darkness, not charge our telephone batteries, close our factories, stop cooking etc. These are basics that Ghanaians expect as a right.

It is said that while some districts pay high electricity tariffs others pay next to nothing. It is also said that within the same neighborhoods in the Accra/Tema Megapolis tariffs vary from house to house.

Illegal connections and govt agencies not paying for electricity are the main reasons consumers are not motivated to conserve energy, privatize it and the ECG and there will be the effort to curtail illegal connections by the use of Supply Point Monitoring (SPM).
Ghanaians (govt) are not problem solvers we are just complainers. We are lazy period.
