KNUST failed to rusticate and report to the police a female student who beat up her roommate; the lecturers have been bought. It has been said that many lecturers lack teaching methodologies. What should be the minimum requirement in recruiting lecturers into a tertiary institution? Is it a masters degree or a PhD with a course in education??

Professors in tertiary institutions must read GES directives. There are many important and useful GES directives which would help them.

GES banned all forms of corporal punishment in Educational institutions but there are reports that some tertiary institutions are still carrying out this practice. Asking students to kneel down and so on.

Lecturers in tertiary institutions must recognize the fact that students in these institution are adults.

The Catholic Bishops did not agree with the computer placement of students and made their fears known. They were ignored and this is what we have. If we are avoid any or all tensions, parents must be allowed to select the schools where they believe their children will be educated within the context of their beliefs. Anyone who chooses a school will therefore not complain he/she is being forced to do things against his/her will.

This could help schools manage their own admission process, uphold their identity and ethos.

The computer selection and the different uniforms by faith based schools was introduced by the NPP regime and no one was any problem with it. All issues that came up were rubbished that time. Now these same issues are resurfacing and instead of commenting objectively about it, we just politicize the whole issue. Please some issues are of national interest is not all issues that need to be politicized.

Government officials, chiefs, religious leaders, senior military officers influenced the admission process resulting in students without merit being admitted over highly qualified students, especially into some of the top schools. In order to prevent this corrupt practice, all schools receiving government funding should be freed of religious domination. They should have a dress code, sing the national anthem and recite the pledge of allegiance instead of prayers at assemblies. Sunday church service, Friday mosque worship, African worship should be optional for students in the true spirit of religious freedom in all schools receiving government funding.

Within a secular state religious teachings are not offered and if they are offered they are not mandatory. Within a secular state one is not asked to take an oath with reference to God or any religon. Recently, there was a case in the Netherlands, where a PHD thesis was rejected, because a PHD student a christian thanked God in his thesis.

"A Dutch university (Wageningen University) prohibited a PhD student from thanking God in his thesis acknowledgments. The student, Jerke de Vries, wrote, “My Father God, thank You, it’s the most wonderful thing to be loved and honoured by You.” The university refused to grant him his thesis unless he deleted this reference to God. The university argues that science should be independent from politics or religion (political statements are also banned).

Deeper life students will also tie scarves and saturday faith people too will put on mayafi veils. Moh, Nmc must do something about this
