Fellow citizens, let us get rid of ''Azorka boys'' and all other ''boys, boys'' groups in Ghana. These are a serious threat to the security of the country. You don't need to be a security expert to see the dangers these groups pose. Unfortunately, Ghana has an interior minister who cannot think beyond today, and likely to fight over cow meat if his neighbour refuses to share. He therefore does not see the dangers these lawless groups pose to the security of the people of Ghana. Hence, his intention to legalize them.
When encouraged, it will lead to ABDUCTIONS, ASSASSINATIONS, INCREASE IN ARMED ROBBERIES, VIOLENCE AT ELECTION TIME and many other lawless acts that I cannot list here.
The POLICE SERVICE WILL SUFFER MOST. They will be ignored by politicians because the police will be irrelevant to them. The POLICE would therefore be weaken (the provision for necessary tools for effective policing will not be forthcoming) and their service conditions (salary) will get bad.
WE ALL SAW HOW THE 64th BATTALION WAS TREATED IN RELATIONS TO THE REGULAR ARMY. I therefore need not say more. For the good of all of us, fellow Ghanaians, let us discourage the formation of these illegal groups. Left to politicians alone, they will keep the status quo to hold on to power through intimidation and violent means which these groups are meant for.

The whole concept of chieftaincy in Northern Ghana is too anachronistic, archaic, exploitative and patronizing. If you have never lived in the North, you cannot understand why people should kill because of a kilo of meat or a guinea fowl. "Why don't you just give the f..ky meat to the King and carry on with your business?" It is not that easy and it is also not the size of the meat, but the regularity and irritating nature of the demand. There are people from the King's house whose duty it is to enforce these demands, roaming about town with drums hung on their shoulders and smoking out places where carcasses are being roasted, and pointing out which portions should go to the king, and in whose kitchen they would also be feeding. And it goes on and on and on. Some form of daily taxation which should anger anybody. Add to this practice is the existence of two or more gates to every skin. When an occupant dies, all the vying gates begin their own "ways and means" to ascend the throne so as the help themselves to this meat 'taxes' and other forms of pecks available to the King. When there is a protracted litigation between the gates, almost everyone especially butchers are caught up in the struggle for allegiance and the right to demand the meat. So you see why butchers are always caught up in chieftaincy struggles in the North. Even when they migrate to the South, these conflicts follow them there. Why are butchers a fertile recruiting ground for violent attacks? The answer is simple. They are expects in killing and slaughter, they have sharpened machetes and knives that can be turned against human beings. Butchers also have guns to protect their kraals against night robbers. When all these elements are put together, you have a combustible mix which can be ignited by a very small dispute such as the demand for a pound of cow meat. The solution is for the DCEs and the Security agencies in areas as Bimbilla where these 'butchers' problem exist to devise a way of collecting cash equivalent of the meat on monthly basis on behalf of the King and others so entitled. This would prevent direct contact between the king's enforcers and the butchers and eliminate the carnage that we are witnessing.

Sometimes an arrest can be counter productive especially in a volatile situation where the arrested person has a lot of followers who are willing to mobilize and confront police or attack the other side. In such a case the police can proceed with criminal summons where the chief or any other such influential person can be served to appear in court. It has the same effect as an arrest. After hearing the case, the judge can still remand the suspect. This way the initial escalation to be triggered by an arrest is abetted. This is the point the public don't appreciate when police strategically avoid making an arrest. It also needs public education to assure everybody that the law is being upheld to the letter.

The Police have submitted their report based on "their" investigations and court in Tamale has started it's poceedings. However taking into account certain external factors which sometimes render police reports based (eg political, bribery, traditional weight (gates, chieftaincy, etc) it will be difficult for the court to solely make a sound judgement based solely on the report from the Ghana Police.
Therefore to ensure an accurate, objective and open - minded hearing, an independent body should be set up to do it's thorough investigation as well, especially knowing that this is a traditional/chieftaincy issue. Nobody wants to make an already volatile situation worse or pour unnecessary gas unto the already burning flame. This holds in every chieftain situation in Ghana, and not only in Northern Ghana and Bimbilla for that matter.
Let's ensure there's undue political influence in this case because if there's any such thing, especially against the Regent, then it'll be incoherent to assume that Regent and his followers will be exonerated even if they are "innocent".
It may be recalled that last week there was an article which alleged that the DCE refused to follow up on a several tips that trouble was brewing in the Bimbilla chieftain situation but the DCE refused to intervene. The said tip also alleged that the police were taking sides against the Regent lol).
Objectivity, absence of political influence are key in a peaceful resolution in chieftaincy matters. The situation ss Volatile so let's APPROACH it With Utmost caution. No blame game yet pls
