The increment is just too much. Even with my private car I find it difficult to pay. 400% jump is way too much. what at all do we get from these insurance company, nothing. Just wait and see the cars and buildings this compan ... read full comment

I sympathize with the drivers is that they are not putting the issues right. The main problem is the jump in insurance premiums. 400% increase is definitely a killer policy. As for exams before licence is a good thing.

The irony of insurance in Ghana is that the companies don't pay claims. They only collect but don't pay victims. There is no lawyer involved when paying but when it comes to payment lawyers are involved. Claiming insurance in Ghana is so cumbersome that people prefer to let it go. Drivers take it upon themselves to payment for hospital bills and other expenses.
It will better if a national Insurance Board is established to payment victims of vehicular accidents. The mushroom insurance companies must be stopped from insuring vehicles. Motorists should pay insurance when they buy fuel with the insurance element transferred to the Board. The police must have nothing to do with insurance. This the case in southern African countries. Why should the police who are paid with taxpayers money do the work of private companies who fail to pay accident victims?
We know them. Let them strike. Who cares
