Turn off your devices first, then unplug from the wall.

In any case, plugging in a device while another is already in the mains, or trying to unplug one while another is already in, should not cause a short circuit.

You may hear a short, soft, one-time whoof sound, but that should not be cause for equipment failure, let alone electrocution.

But I also know that in Ghana, wires' protective materials may also have been compromised because of someone's greed.

Both "death" and "electrocuted/electrocution" can be on the same phrase/sentence just re-arrangement. For example 'St Augustine student, 19, met untimely death by electrocution' etc
