The prof might be referring to the like of Sam Okudjeto, who entered politics right from the lecture halls and cannot boast of life in the "real world". The advice isnt new, some of these youngsters have moved mountains to gain a degree and must be respected. Please do not add salt to injury. Most lecturers enjoyed attractive grants or lax student loans which they havent even paid pack. You can only impart what you possess and how much innovative skills do these lecturers have by the way. The smart ones have set themselves up and moved on leaving the note bombers behind.

What should be the minimum requirement in recruiting lecturers into a tertiary institution? Is it a masters degree or a PhD with a course in education??

Professors in tertiary institutions must read GES directives. There are many important and useful GES directives which would help them.

GES banned all forms of corporal punishment in Educational institutions but there are reports that some tertiary institutions are still carrying out this practice. Asking students to kneel down and so on.

Lecturers in tertiary institutions must recognize the fact that students in these institution are adults.

That was when, at the height of their madness, they closed down the all the universities for more than a year. Now they have butchers, tailors and hairdressers in parliament making laws.

Why do Ghanaian leaders make idiotic speches like this? Yes, creating your own job and business is admirable. It is however the most difficult and risky life endeavor for a young person coming right out of college, especially in such a harsh economic conditions in Ghana. Here is a country without even electricity. And where can a new entrepreneur get a reasonable interest rate loan in Ghana? Is it not these same college graduates that are being described as not adequately trained to be employed by companies in Ghana? People who give these stupid speeches should know that most people who are not employable will not survive in business. Ghana has a ghost economy right now so forget about this creating job nonsense. The answer is for the government to curb rampant corruption and make sound decisions to create a favorable economy for businesses to thrive.
