I just don't understand why government should make promises when she deeply knows such promises cannot be made. Many of these allowances need not be promised. If it is teachers who only are not paid their allowances, then they have the right to ask for their lots.
I believe from the top MPs and government appointees should not equally be paid any allowances. They can ride bicycles to and from work. Until Biden became the Vice President of USA, he rode the metro train and bus to work.
Mahama cannot afford to stop the salaries of striking teachers when she refuses to pay what is due them. Suspend their salaries and see what will happen in the kids at school, especially the boarding ones.

Frank you are right on some points,government not supposed to be promising certain allowances,for example car maintenance allowance when in the first place most of them don't even have a car,how can government pay for maintenance of your car,if you cannot maintain a car just sell it,nobody forced you to buy a car,your car is not a government vehicle for the government to maintain it,it is a very foolish allowance,waste of tax payers money.

Biden riding on the Metro Transit was his choice,he felt comfortable doing that from his home state to DC which is just a short ride,it is not that he could not afford it,his colleagues rent in DC area and live there,he could have done the same but he chose to commute instead.

Government not paying workers is becoming too much these days, if you agree to pay them,pay them,enough is enough,if the Finance Minister cannot release money to pay workers in the name of the so called fiscal discipline or whatever let him go,we are tired of hearing people going on strike almost every week,something honestly never happened in Ghana like that before,too much,let us do the right thing,we can't afford to lose the election because somebody fails to do the right thing.
