Yaw, there is a difference between Cedis and Ghana cedis, For accounting and reporting purposes that distinction must be clear. Before the introduction of the Ghana Cedis, our currency was recorded in Cedis. After the redenomination (removing 4 zeros) in 2006, we called it Ghana Cedis. 1 GHC was then recorded as 10,000 cedis. in the accounting records. Therefore if we do not say 1 GHC, there would be confusion in the records. I believe that you have learnt something of value to-day!
