At least we know for a fact that we speak English because we were colonised by a race called English, how is it the the Asantes do not have their distinct culture but practice the same Akan culture that the others do it f they are so different? I will buy the argument that Gas are distinct from Asantes but I am yet to be convinced of the same. And Okyehene is designated so because it came into being before the other Akyem States, so before there was the other Akyems state the Abuakwa State was such and called Okyeman. In the same way that English towns were replicated in areas they colonised in the Americas, Australia and New Zealand.

Two, let's analyze the two scenarios that have generated this misunderstanding: The one thing everybody should understand is that, OMANHEHE in simple interpretation, means HEAD(KING) of A STATE: OMAN means STATE and KING means OHENE. If we accept that interpretation, then, ASANTEHENE would be the OVERALL KING of the people of Asante, and therefore power over the Asante PEOPLE and LANDS, just like any Head of state in any "modern nation-state" as we know now have over his country. The SAME authority rests on the shoulders of OKYEHENE in ALL AKYEM ABUAKWA PEOPLE and LANDS. The same also holds true for the other two Akyem AMANHENE namely; BOSOME and KOTOKU.
Before colonization, these geographical areas (under these Kings) were considered as separate STATES with their respective Kings as HEADS of STATE. If any of these Kings went to the other's jurisdiction, it's incumbent on the VISITOR King to accord the due respect required of him to the HOST. How is this done?
Now, it's culturally inappropriate for one Omanhene to "stand up" when another was passing or greeting, but the SUBJECTS of each( be it the HOST or VISITOR'S) HAVE TO, when any of the Kings came closer passing by, or approached to offer ceremonial greetings to the other as a sign of respect on behalf of their respective Kings.
If one aacepts that aged-old traditional protocol, then if Asantehene went to AKyem Abuakwa jurisdiction, his subject entourage would have to exercise that customary respect to his host ON BEHALF of their King. And this is inter-exchangeable gesture, meaning in reverse, Okyehene's subjects would do same if he happened to be in Asante jurisdiction.
I hope my explanation clarifies the MYTH some people are creating here concerning the UNLIMITED power of Asantehene or Okyehene over ALL Kingdoms in geographical Ghana. Both have POWER, albeit limited to their geographical jurisdiction in traditional terms, therefore each KING and their SUBJECTS have to respect that traditional protocol accordingly. It does not make any of them ruler over the other, because both are considered as "sovereign" in their own RIGHT.

Traditionally the Okyehene in his traditional territory is above the Asantehene and for that matter who ever represent him at any function within akyem jurisdiction.
It is unfortunate that the Asantehene’s entourage failed to uphold tradition. This is gross disrespect to the akyems and lack of appreciation of other traditions in Ghana.
Asantehene is not above any omanhene in Ghana, period.

Now, just as you wrongly claim that the Okyehene is a 'King', your expectations of others to accord him the associated reverence and eminence has been wrongly elevated. Therefore, you see their rightful and normal regard of the Okyehene as inadequate and insulting to you.
This is the same fallacious climate the Akufo-Addo Mafia has long built around him, to make him look as a better individual to be our President than any other Ghanaian alive today. All of sudden, Akufo-Addo is even more important than the President of Ghana, and the Okyehene, who is NOT a King, is considered, at least, at par with the Otumfuor, if not higher in the minds of these goons.
It is very disturbing that most of the Akufo-Addo Faction's political elites and intellingentsia who claim to know better than everyone else are rather those who lead such a futile and chaotic campaign of bigoted tribal or sub-ethnic politics.
Nevertheless, when one thinks harder about it, it ceases to be surprising when we realize that the NPP Flagbearer himself openly engaged in similar tactics with his "Yen Akanfo de.." crap.
His minions graduated from the inter-tribal bigotry to an intra-tribal one as we are witnessing with the Asante-versus-Akyem fracas going on now. I know many would not deem the situation as amounting to anything close to fracas. Well, all violent crisis start with a little spark that goes unquenched, and rather fueled with further dangerous rhetoric and insults.
It is time all decent Ghanaians rose up and boldly told these Akufo-Addo Mafia that we would rather have him lose the Elections than lead the Nation into a permanent disarray and violence.
For once and for all, Akufo-Addo and his impudent minions must be told that knocking the heads of Chiefs against one another's would worsen his chances for victory in the Elections. Not elevate them. And finally, the Okyehene may well be a "Brother" to the Asantehene. But the Okyehene is the minor in that relationship and his Stool or domain has never been a Kingdom. The Okyehene is therefore NOT a King. That is a fact that the Okyehene must live with in humility and tranquility as have been all his predecessors.

In 1985, the Okyenhene Kuntunkunuku refused to rise at a durbar at Jackson's Park when J.J. Rawlings went around greeting the chiefs, but J.J.'s bodyguards did not beat anybody.
In any case, we must cease the habit of squinting our eyes through political hatred and judge rightly: the Asante delegation should have risen up, and the Okyenhene's bodyguards should have restrained themselves from going on rampage.
If this simple thing had happened, we would not be here trying to divide up the tribes.

For instance, if Ashantis believe the Asantehene is the foremost king in Akanland (or is it in all Ghana?), but non-Ashantis don't accept it, it means we are heading for chsos anytime the Asantehene or his representative visits a non-Ashanti territory.
The clash between the Asantehene's representative and Okyenhene's security at JB Danquah's funeral was not the first of its kind. Similar clashes had occurred in the past in Kyebi, Brong Ahafo and elsewhere.
When it comes to the protocol to accord the president, there is no confusion because the highest rule of the land makes the president the foremost gentleman of the land and he takes precedent over every other person. Thus the president is the last to arrive at a state function and he is the first to depart. There is no such accepted or prevailing rule when it comes to the Asantehene and the other kings of Ghana. There is the need for us to havesuch a written code if we don't want a war caused by an arbitrary determination of who is who among Ghanaian kings.
