During my teenage period, we thought Fantes were very much enlightened and people used to give their children to Fante teachers for good training but sorry, they have proofed the opposite. People should not take the law into their own hands. If they don't have public toilets it is better for them to request for the facilities for their own sake

All culprits when arrested should be prosecuted and made to pay a fine . It's not going to be easy to start with but it will eventually succeed to make our beaches clean, healthy and attractive

Going to the beaches to arrest and prosecute offenders may cause some changes but how sustainable is that?
Two suggestions come to mind and have to do with finding long term solutions. First the authorities- both traditional and governmental should educate the populace on the broader impact of beach defecation eg spread of disease, pollution, eyesore, loss of tourism revenue etc. Secondly, the practice of providing communities with public toilet facilities should be replaced with assisted programmes for each household to have their own. I accept its not easy but it is only when we set out as a long term solution and stay on course can we achieve success. As it is the government can never provide enough toillets for ever growing communities.
