Nana Okyenhene,
The term your 'palace is being dug' is only used figuratively, so you should not take it literally.
The term simply means that 'galamsey' is going on in your immediate locality, which is true, but you have hitherto done nothing to stop / impede it.

AUTHOR: STEPHEN DONKOR -------- Hei, NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONCERT(NDC) should be ready to stay in opposition for eternity. Considering the prudent economic foundation the NPP has started to put in place by reducing taxes, tackling the Banks policy rates and the lmplementation of the One District One Factory policy to curb the menace of employment in Ghana. The free High School program the National Health Insurance Scheme and many more programs to ease the suffering and hardship that the criminal Mahama administration unleashed on Ghanaians. Do you think we Ghanaians would be fooled again to throw our bones back to you dogs? Solve the puzzle NDC goons.

Everyday I don't support galamsey, and it continues and continues. From your defiance alone, it may be true. Whether you support it or not, stop it. What do you want the money for that you want to destroy the country you inherited, the land entrusted into your hands why we worship you, and poison us with mercury and other heavy metals? This chieftaincy has outlived its usefulness. Like Ibrahim some of the chiefs must begin to account for the betrayal of their communities and people.

"If I wanted to do mining, I would take my land, I don’t have to ask anybody, go to the Minerals Commission and secure proper licence to do proper mining."
“Why would I turn around and steal my land to engage in such dirt?”
The above assertions have to be more critically analyzed. Whose Land is it for real? We have long acquiesced to this archaic notion of our land being owned solely ultimately by a particular Chief or Royalty who could choose to do whatever they want with it, even at the fatal expense of the inhabitants, some of whom are the real owners.
Our Traditional Authorities claim that so long as individuals remain their subjects under the Traditional Chieftaincy Laws, the properties these individuals own, especially, Real Estates, are ultimately the Chiefs' possessions. We must not forget that most families settled in wherever they call their homeland long before some bully came around to impose his or her authority over them and claimed to be their Chief or King. Or, People might have volunteered to pronounce an individual their leader at the time of their existence, and didn't intend to have those Leaders' descendants keep taking up that role. If for security reasons folks were compelled to bond together, then, and put their faith for survival in one person or family, things have changed now, and we have to be pragmatic enough to concede the privileges given to those leaders of old have been outlived.
We must reform our Laws to deflate that notion. That injudicious privilege turned into exclusive right of the Royals is one of the few reasons why progress among our People have long being held back, and People have endured prolonged poverty.
Hardly does the ordinary folks know what becomes of the Royalties that the Government pay the Chiefs from various commercial deals their lands are leased for. I bet most Rural folks do not even know such Royalties are even ever paid out from Mineral and Timber exploitation, for example.
And given that various Governments always solicit for the support of the Chiefs to facilitate governance of the Nation, they do not audit how the Chiefs use such Monies.
In the end, a whole huge piece of Land could be so heavily exploited that all kinds of environmental hazards would emerge from that usage to disrupt the well-being of the People living on and around the Land, and the People would not gain a penny from it. In fact, that activity could as well harm, and even threaten the sheer existence of the People in the area, and yet the People would have no say in how to handle the situation.
What a World we live in!
Long Live Ghana!!!
