I never knew we had alligators in Ghana. I thought we just had crocodiles which much look similar to an alligator to the lay person, but actually distinct.

Crocodiles have always been in area, particularly in the Pomploase river. Pomploase is a river close to the nurses quarters area behind the washing bay down the slopes of Abrepo Junction to Bohyen road and connecting to the muddy swamps stretching all the way to Suame.

Now it is said that crocodiles can hide in holes for years and can also fast for long periods of time. Having their habitats taken over by the inhabitants of the houses around, this is just a natural thing to happen. No superstitions.

One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond, as he hadn't been there for a while, and look it over. He grabbed a five gallon bucket to bring back some fruit.

As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. When he came closer, he realized it was a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond. He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end to shield themselves.
