Empoli are looking to sign Afriyie Acquah from Torino
It is now emerging that Afriyie Acquah was willing to extend his 2019-expiring contract with Torino but the Serie A club offered a pitiful deal, GHANASoccernet.com can report.
Torino risk losing the Ghana international for free next summer unless an improved contract to keep him at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino is tabled.
Negotiations for a new contract have broken down but, we understand the player is unlikely to force a move away.
Sources close to the negotiations are also surprised an initial offer of a loan move to Serie A returneees Empoli was rejected by the club.
With his contract expiring next summer, Torino either have to accept Empoli's bid or offer a better contract.
GHANASoccernet.com understands Torino are keen on keeping the enforcing defensive midfielder but, are not ready to offer an ‘improved contract’.
The agent of the player, Oliver Arthur, has refused to comment on the emerging details.
