Liverpool have set their sights on Marseille winger Andre Ayew who is reportedly very keen on a move to the Premier League according to the Daily Express.
Serie A side Napoli have made a £5m offer for the 24 year old Ligue 1 star and this could well lead to something of a bidding war for the French born Ghanaian international.
Ayew has publicly spoken of his desire to play in the English top tier, stating;
“It’s a league every player dreams about,” he said.
“The English league is the one most followed in Ghana. It’s true that I have a real preference for England.
“I like a bit of everything; the atmosphere, the game, the fans. There is a lot of intensity. It is a beautiful championship.”
Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers wants to give his Liverpool attack more pace and feels Ayew can offer the direct approach that would complement the likes of Daniel Sturrige and Luis Suarez.
Ayew has represented Marseille since the age of 15 and with the Stade Velodrome side well off the Champions League berths this term, a move to Liverpool could well prove tempting.
Rodgers is likely to be handed a significant transfer war-chest but could opt to clear the way for a player of Ayew’s quality by offloading the likes of Iago Aspas, Fabio Borini and Oussama Assaidi.
