Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will hand Kevin-Prince Boateng another opportunity to prove his worth after questions were raised about the player’s loyalty.
The Schalke midfielder is yet to make a playing return to the Ghana national team since renouncing his premature decision to quit international football two months ago.
The 26-year-old has missed two key games for Ghana – the World Cup qualifiers against Zambia and Egypt – due to his troublesome knee injury.
Many have however cast doubts over the ex AC Milan star’s commitment to the Black Stars – believing he is lurking around the team in order to play in only the big games and not to endure the hustles of African qualifiers.
But coach Appiah will give Boateng the chance to prove himself again in Ghana’s next game – the return leg of the World Cup playoffs against Egypt.
“I personally believe he has to be given another chance. Whether he will come or not will be from his side,” Appiah told TV3.
Boateng has played no part in Ghana’s games towards World Cup qualification which now appears a foregone conclusion following the thumping 6-1 win secured in the first leg of the playoffs against Egypt.
He however remains very popular amongst officials and coaches of the Black Stars due to the immense quality he brings on board.
