Tony Appiah, the agent for Israeli coach Avram Grant, remains confident his client will be handed the job as Ghana national team coach.

Grant is among a five-man shortlist in the hunt for the vacant Black Stars coaching position.

The newly-appointed technical director of Thai Premier League club BEC Tero Sasana faces competition from Serbian Milovan Rajevac, Marco Taddelli (Watford manager), Bernd Schuster and Patrick Kluivert.

But according to his representative Appiah, the former Chelsea manager stands tall among the rest of the applicants.

“Grant has applied for the job and we’re hoping the Ghana Football Association will take it in their stride to name him as the next coach of the Black Stars,” Appiah said.

“His work with top clubs tells it all, he has seen it all in football, in England, Turkey and even the Israeli National team.

“His track record is clear for everybody to see and we think that he is more capable of doing this job than any other candidate who has applied.

“We have made it clear to them that Grant is working now in Bangkok but will not hesitate to leave his post and join the Ghana FA to work.”
