The Black Stars of Ghana defeated Kumasi Asante Kotoko 3-0 in a friendly match played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi, on Friday evening.
Goals from Majeed Waris, Emmanuel Boateng and Christian Atsu ensured a resounding victory for the ruthless Black Stars whose 2019 African Cup Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone, was cancelled due to FIFA's suspension of the Sierra Leone Football Association.
The Black Stars begun the game on a good note having controlled possession in the early stages, as Majeed Waris opened the scoring with a calm finish in the penalty box after a delightful pass from Turkish based midfielder Isaac Sackey.
The game became very cagey afterwards with Kotoko bouncing back into the game with numerous chances but were unable to capitalize on them as the first half ended with Black Stars taking a slim lead.
Emmanuel Boateng after recess scored the second goal for the Black Stars on the 47th-minute mark after a dazzling play by Newcastle United Christian Atsu who set up the Levante Striker, who coolly slotted beyond Ibrahim Danladi.
Atsu made it three for the Black Stars on the 55th minute as he dribbled past Kotoko defender Wahab Adams and struck the ball past Kotoko goalkeeper Danlandi.
The game failed to produce more goals as Black Stars ended the game 3-0 victors.
