Desailly stokes Black Stars coaching debate

Marcel Desailly remains unwavering in his belief that he will one day become coach of the Ghana national team. The Ghanaian born former France international has reiterated the conviction that he is cut for the job and will not give up even if he previously failed to get the nod of Ghanaian football chiefs.

“I am very passionate about this and I remain in this job so nothing is lost. I am passionate and willing to help my country so far as I remain in this business I believe that one day I will be on that bench as coach of the Black Stars,” Desailly answered media men at the post-match press conference of the Michael Essien Peace Match last Wednesday.

The 42 year old World Cup winner was coach of the World XI which beat Michael Essien’s Africa XI 4-2 in the charity game but has yet to fully take a coaching job even though he has been linked with a club side in the United Arab Emirates.

What remains clear for him however is that he will one day be appointed to coach the Black Stars even if he withdrew from the race for the job last time before it went to Serbian Goran Stevanovic.

“I withdrew (from the Ghana application process) because it was a bit too complicated, I don't want to say too much about it because it’s now in the past. We have to look forward to the future and I am hopeful I will get the job one day,” Desailly said.
