SuperSport have reportedly paid US$ 400,000 to the Ghana FA as the first tranche of its financial obligations in its partnership agreement.

The South African Pay TV channel has signed a three-year partnership agreement with the Ghana FA to become the exclusive right holders to broadcast the Premier League and FA Cup.

The deal is reportedly worth US$2.1m over the three-year period with an annual payment of US$ 700,000.

The chunk of this amount will be shared amongst the 16 participating clubs in the Ghanaian top flight with the residual amount used in other sectors captured in the agreement.

Each club is expected to bag US$ 25,000 after tax to bolster their badly leaking finances.

Clubs in the Ghanaian top flight have been up in arms in recent years after the non-payment of sponsorship monies from then headline sponsors of the Ghanaian top flight, Glo.
