Kotoko Pleads For Presidential Jet

Mon, 4 Nov 2002 Source:

KUMASI ASANTE Kotoko has made a passionate appeal to government for release of the "controversial" presidential jet to convey them to Morocco to help reduce travel cost.

The club has explained that it might require about ?1 billion to move to Morocco for the first-leg of the African Cup Winners’ tournament.

Kotoko management has disclosed that it is without doubt that both management and board alone cannot foot the bill of the impending continental assignment, hence the need for government to come to the aid of Asante Kotoko.

It is now an open secret that Kotoko has already made trips to South Africa, Angola, Egypt and Congo in preparation for the tournament, whic apparently have made serious in- roads into its coffers and, hence the request for the colossal assistance from government.

Kotoko’s qualification for the final would mean a lot to the development of Ghana’s football which should, therefore, be treated as a national issue and requited on its merits.
