Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi is confident the Black Stars will defeat Egypt to qualify for the 2014 World Cup even though he did not want to meet the Pharaohs in the playoffs.
The leaders of Ghana’s football federation insist playing the second-leg of the clash away from home will not be advantageous to the Egyptians. Ghana were drawn to face the seven-time African champions in the playoffs for the World Cup in Brazil on Monday.
The clash between the Black Stars and Egypt is the pick of the playoffs that has seen some tough clashes lined-up for some of Africa’s best sides.
Nyantakyi is confident Ghana will defeat Egypt over the two legs to make a historic third successive appearance in the tournament in Brazil.
“I didn’t wish at all to meet Egypt; I hoped for any other team to be drawn with,” Kwesi Nyantakyi told reporters.
“Playing the return leg in Egypt doesn’t worry us at all; we could settle the tie in the first leg.
“We managed to win 3-0 in our last game with Egypt but that was a friendly game, it’s totally different in the qualifiers,” he added.
