Playing in a virtually empty stadium, both teams went into action right from the blast of the referee's whistle, but it was Lions who struck first in the fourth minute with a shot from Draman Haminu and continued to probe for an early goal which came their way two minutes later.
Lions continued to shoot from all angles with Sadat Bukari missing a chance in the 10th minute.
Let off the hook, RTU turned the heat on Lions but their attackers could not penetrate the iron-clad defence of their opponents. On resumption of the second half, Lions continued to dominate the game with Abraham Annang and Yusif Issah making things difficult for the RTU defence.
Both teams exhausted their substitutions but it was Lions who were on top but they could not increase their tally till the end of the game. Junior Fatawu of RTU was adjudged the best player of the match and he was awarded with a ghetto blaster and Coca Cola products.
