If we are to go solely by the performance of the team in this tournament, then it is very clear that the coach failed to deliver. However, a decision to replace him should be based on a thorough analysis of the GFA's circumstances. The major consideartion would be money -- how much they can afford to pay a top-notch coach. I suspect, in the first place, that Kwasi Appiah got the job only because the GFA did not have the resources to pay the salary of a world-class coach. Therein lies the dilemma.

Coach Appiah took a chance, a BOLD decision and if the Team had survived, he would be called the GREATEST Ghanaian Coach-Ever!
A 'Tumtumi bedi Korkor' affair but he lost; he MUST equally be treated like all gambling LOOSERS; he failed and be shown the door - no sympathy whatsoever.
Now, let's reflect back on his style. Earlier on in the job, he had made a decision to CRUSH the players that fails to respond to his management views but he fails to recognized, that it is the players that will give him the 'life-line' in his job; he came with a HAMMER and used it, but in the second half of the Semi-finals' just before the equalizer, it all came on him, it's only a MIRACLE that can save the STARS.
Coach Appiah's decision is influenced with some Footbal politics; he just could not let it go, and today, he would wish he had played it differently. Personally, his earlier decision to inject DESCIPLINE was the best but too extreme; Ghanaians in general lack such approach, however, some may be seen in the President's move as he chooses his aids. It is long overdued, hence the the increase in corruption on every act or word that comes out from the mouth.

Rather, this mumu coach decided to drop those players ...who are even of higher quality, and chose mediocre players to win a cup...but the funny thing is that even the mediocre players were sacrificing themselves for a coach who had no clue as to whatever he was doing! I believe the Coach was gunning to win the match within regulation playing time and that was possible so you need to gamble or take risk to win. He has the technical eye whilst majority of u use our emotional eyes...In fact, if A Gyan's shot at goal which hitthe goal post had gone in or his header from Atsu's incisive pass had gone in, would we be talking like this? Football is a game of chance and you may have a good play but lose or a bad day and win or both either way...Ghana's team is at the building stage and about 11 of the boys are playing their first major tournament and are yet to develop their telepatic play. From what I saw they have a bright future with the coach... So? NO PANIC Mesuares at this time. I always refer to Sir Alex Fergurson of Man U... I was in London when he was appointed as manager of Man U. He failed miserably in his first seasons but when he picked up Man U was unstoppable.. Anyway, who was the play-maker in the team?

I am just an ordinary old man who enjoys watching football matches, all i can say is that it is not a deal for the team to reach semi-final so for me the head-coach has not done anything extraordinary. Last year the team reached semi-finals and this time
i was expecting the team to reach the finals.

The Nigerian coach has done very well. The team scored many goals. They never focussed their attention on award of penalties in order to score a goal. The dressing of the head coach even signified that he ment business.
Ghana's head coach had dressed like a Chief executive of a state corporation. And of course, showing some 'mmobo, mmobo face'.

It seems to me that the head coach requires a good tactician to assist him in his work.
At this stage i am not even sure whether, the Blackstars can beat Mali for the third position on Saturday.

Kwesi Appiah did wrong by replacing a midfielder with a striker? Can't the former MP see the reasoning behind the coach's decision? At the time he was making the change how on earth could the coach have known that the match would end a draw? The coach obviously did not want a tie, by the substitution he wanted to put more pressure on the Burkinabe defence for a possible goal opportunity. It did not turn up as expected because Clottey's impact was minimal; but remember Clottey at least by local standards is not an 'ordinary player' he recently held the 'goal king' accolade.
So no one can fault the coach about Black Stars' loss to the Burkinabes. We lost to a well-conditioned team who managed to successfully 'intimidate' our players with their 'well-built physique'. They also passed the ball better than our team.
So it's not the coach's fault that we lost; I suggest however that the handlers recruit stronger, well-built players (even if not very skilful)but technically amenable to join especially the forwards. Our team lacks that 'psychological intimidation' exuded by the mere PHYSIQUE of players. At any soccer meet, Ghanaian players are always counted among the 'small-to-average' built. Successful Black Stars of old, featured burly, strong, powerful forwards -Emmanuel Quarshie, Tony Yeboah, Kwesi Owusu, Anas Seidu etc.

I personally think it will be anatomically a disaser, surgically wrong, pathologically unacceptable to terminate his appointment as the Coach while there is still life in him. After building a formidable team out of a fresh box, I have confidence in him and I wish he is given time to build the team to the taste of football fans.

If the shoeshine boy substitute Wakaso the best penalty taker at the dying minutes of the game Ghanaians would not have any problem with the shoeshine boy, this is because the shoeshine boy is NOT A COACH,but somene who call himself a coach,a national team coach for that mater, cannot make such a mistake, not even an under five football team coach will substitute wakaso at that crucial moment.Because the shoeshine boy new there will be penalty shootout he will draw his list of his five best players with the best penalty taker starting and the worse being the last to take. The shoeshine boy will also adviced Agyman Badu to change his direction of ball during the penalty kick, this is because, all eyes was on Agyman Badu including the goalkeeper of the Bukina Faso team during the 2009 under 20 world cup. when he went for his penalty kick This was the main reason why the keeper was at the direction waiting before the ball came to him. To crown it all, it was a delibrate act that the man who call himself a coach did. I dont think the shoeshine boy will make such a mistake. The man has not got the knowladge of coaching.If the coach has got the nation at heart, he would have insistered Dede be part of the team.In this case if you lack the knowledge of a particular trade you need not be in its department. When Wakaso was being substituted my five years old son ignorrantly told me to call Appiah to put Wakaso back into the game incase there is another penalty, but did not noknw there will be penalty shootout. We should discard the notion that we're the best in Africa and probably in the world with they kind of performance. In the '60s, Ghana could beat other countries by wide margins:

6-0, 9-0, 11-1 ect. These days other nations have improved; everybody knows how to play good football.

I was a bit sceptical when many people said that we'll bring the cup home, for sure! Of course I'd want us to win the AFCON-2013 trophy, but when we played Cape Verde, I knew that our chances of winning the cup was going to be tough.

The Cape Verde team exposed us; they were physically fit and tactically well composed than our Black Stars. We were lucky to win by 2-0.

Football is completely scientific! Spain plays a well organized and scientific football, devoid of any ugliness. Brazil used to dominate world football, also in the '70s well into the late '90s. Things have changed! There're new tricks, modern and formulae adopted by modern coaches and that's what our local coaches must do well to grasp.

If we want Ghana to regain her past glory in football, then our Sports Ninistry and our football authorities must invest in the scientific knowldedge and technique aspect of the game by sponsoring our head coach and other local coaches to take part in advance coaching. We must learn the magic of the Spaniards, Germans, Brazilians and the Dutch.

From the way I see things, Ghana could miss out of the WC-2014 in Brazil. We shouldn't deceive ourselves. We lack the latest techniques in modern football. That's the fact. I've always said that we should find a top-quality foreign coach to guide us until such a time that our local coaches could take over, after obtaining the the requisite certificates and the "know-how" which could see us rise up again.

Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi and his GFA management staff should brainstorm the way forward. The payment of incentives to our players and coaches alone won't help us. Our players shold be able to win tough matches even when the opponent plays with iron-physique. We've seen what has happened twice in a roll---in the previous tournament and this one. GFA shold look for a top-class foreign coach to qualify us to the WC-2014, while Coach Kwasi Appiah is helped to acquire more knowledge; he shouldn't be sacked. The last Serbian Coach wasn't good enough. Let's look for a better coach.

We should continue to fool ourselves by thinking we're the best in Africa and the probably the world. Gone were those days; these days, things have changed!
