Essien is not totally neglected. He is on the 25 man Premier League list. Two of them from this list were not on the 23 man Champions League list for now. The Champions league is a long road. He could come in later.

There are many matches to be played in the course of the season. And if Essien didn't play Champions League, that would not mean the end for him. There're just younger, more BISON-like guys available.
With the above said, it doesn't mean Essien cannot play for the Black Stars. Fact is, it is to our gain, that he'd be used less.

You are not doing the right thing calling the player names. What has he done to you? One thing you are missing is the fact that CL squad doesn't carry weight on the EPL squad. As a player, it is good to have your name in both leagues but if for some reason your name is omitted from the CL squad, that doesn't mean you are not good and are excluded from the club completely. There are many games to be played as far as he is a player at Chelsea.

For us to decide whether he should be taken out from the Black Stars squad could be decided after this coming Friday's match. We have only two days left for that. Therefore, let us give him that opportunity. At least, we owe him that.

It seems you have forgotten so soon that he got hurt twice when playing for the nation. Now it is our turn to reciprocate the favor. Giving him the chance doesn't mean, we should continue inviting him when his performance is below average. This is his chance to prove to the nation that he still has what it takes to be invited.

If he didn't do well on the pitch, believe me, you wouldn't be the only one to advocate for his exclusion from the team.

The insult, though, is not needed.

Tell me which season Essien did not stay away from club games for at least 2 months because of injuries since joining Chelsea in 2005.

Stop spinning his lies to the populace.

If he were still good, he would be playing for club and would be on the Champions League roster.

He peaked in 2007, and not only has he not been able to recapture his former self, but been actually on the decline.

But because we're a blind nation, the one-eyed famous name can lead us, to Slim's cheers and aplomb.

When in form, we saw him play for Chelsea before or after Cups of Nations, the most obvious one in 2006, so what are you talking about?

Nothing against him playing on Friday.
If he is able to re-capture his magic, good for us.

If he is not, he should follow Mensah, Appiah, Paintsil, Tagoe and Kingston, so that

he can go back and façade his snubbing our numerous calls as "concentrating on club football".

He is here today because of his worn-out chances at Chelsea, not because he is truly interested in playing for us.

Can you tell the forum, Diamond, what Essien lied about? Wasn't the player hurt when he asked GFA to give him time to heal? When he asked for his time off national assignment, was he not recuperating from this same injury he sustained during national assignment?

Let us move on with my questions.

Diamond, when one comes out to say "Diamond is a full of shit", with even double exclamation marks at the end, how would you take that? What has Essien done to deserve such an insult? Even if he has done anything wrong, which he hasn't, both you and I are aware of that truth, do we have the right to pour insult on his head? Are you telling me that Askantwi is right to insult Essien? Who deserves to be insulted? Even not the one insulting another deserves that shameful tone.

Now, may be you didn't understand my comment joined to Askantwi's. Allow me to draw you attention to some facts before I continue.

Essien ruptured his cruciate ligament in a World Cup qualifier in September 2008, but after returning in March he has helped secure Ghana's place at the 2010 finals. Is that true or not?

Essien has struggled to recover from that knee injury and was injured again at the 2010 African Nations Cup final, an injury that cost him a place at the World Cup finals on African soil. Is that true or false?

Essien picked up a second Premier League title in 2009-10, but injury restricted him to just 13 starts in the league, and he showed little sign of returning to his former self before being shipped off on loan in the summer of 2012 to Real Madrid. Is this statement true or not?

Now, Diamond, where was he playing when he got those two crucial injuries? Was it for his club or for his nation? Wasn't this injury was his reason of taken a break from national assignments? Did he retire or asked humbly of a break to heal? Then why the insult from your boy?

The rule across the board is that if one doesn't have a club, he wouldn't be called for national competitions. Doesn't Essien has a club? Is he clubless? When Stephen Appiah was clubless, was he not called severally before it became obvious of his position in the national team being taken by few of the new faces in the names of Andrea Ayew, Kwedwo Asamoah, and Kevin Prince Boateng?

Essien's status at the moment hasn't gone over the coach's criterion of invitation but being considered. So where from all these? Wasn't Essien featured for Real Madrid matches before he came back to his mother club? Even at all, didn't he score in his last match for Real Madrid before the break of the season? How long was that? How many matches do you think he played for that half of a season loan? Here is the fact 19 league matches and scored 2 and 7 ordinary matches. How long was it when the season was over? Two months max. So are you saying, he can't perform or he shouldn't be called just because he has been absent from playing a competitive match for two months? Didn't the break affect all the players. And by the way, was he not involved in Chelsea's preseason matches? What is your point now?

Oh, "GOOD FOR US" you say? Why not good for him? You want to benefit from the player's services but you don't want to give him the opportunity to revive his career? Does that make sense to you at all? Yes the rule is there and no one is above it. When the time comes and other players have taken hold of Essien's positions, inviting him wouldn't be advisable.

You know, I could go on and on ...... to give my reasons of why we should give him the opportunity in tomorrow's match. Consequently it wouldn't help because tomorrow is just around the corner. Patience is very important. We need to be calm. Like I stated in the last comment I made to Askantwi's comment, Askantwi wouldn't be the only one to advocate of Essien's exclusion from the team if he performs poor in tomorrow's match.

1. yes, he was injured twice on national duty, BUT those were NOT the only occasions, that every season since he joined Chelsea, he has lost at least 2 months of play because of club-duty injury.

2. that even when he was fit, he, in cahoots with his daddy, refused to play for us because of "injury", as we saw him playing for club soon before or after our international games, the most conspicuous one being the Cup of Nations in Egypt in 2006.

When the real injuries began to hinder him, that's when Ghanaians began to doubt his credibility.
Why? Because he had already set up a history of avoiding national duty.

Don't personalise this: Nobody is insulting him.

Did I not say he got injured twice playing for Ghana against Libya and Ivory Coast?
Why recycle it to me?
Did I say he did not play for Madrid or in Preseason?

Why the missive on his status at the moment?

I said he peaked in 2007, I did not say Chelsea did not win EPL in 2010.
