  I personally think its time for Essien to move on from CHelsea. With Hazard, Mata, Oscar and Obi Mikael, the midfield is full of talent. Essien is still an amazing player, and any team from Tottenham/Everton downwards would fight to have his signature. Even Arsenal, Man U and possibly Citeh would fight to have his signature. I think he should move to a club like Tottenham/Everton and insist on regular football before signing the contract.
