Thank God FATHER & SON LTD. relations has ended in a final exit option for Essien. I believe Essien must have known by now that professional football at the level of Chelsea in not played by sentiments based on personal relations with a coach, not even if the coach is your "FATHER" as in Essien's case. You can only survive and succeed as a player in a club like Chelsea only by your performances and not by partronising coaches.
My strongest advice to Essien is not to go search for a top rated club like Chelsea otherwise he'll extend his bench warming frustrations into his new club, cos he'll soon find out there's no easy vacant to be filled by just past glory of "I am Micheal Essien". When Micheal got a loan deal to Real Madrid it was just by the goodwill of Mourinho, the few occations he got opportunity to play in very odd positions were still because Mourinho wanted him not completely inactive so Essien could resurcitate his career again somewhere.
When your time is up it's equally part of your duty as a professional footballer to recognise it and call it quit or move in the direction of honour to play for a club that is modest and will not give you much stress. Good decision Micheal.

I think Essien, at his present condition will fare well in the Gulf Region, and retire handsomely instead of wasting his time on Europeans.

Whoever is managing Essein should read between the lines and advise the gentleman to move in the right direction.

Can a man be over-grateful, or over-loyal even to his own loss? Coach Mourinho refused to release Michael Essien for important national assignments re CAN and claimed the gentleman was injured. Things went very badly for the Ghana Black Stars in those times since he was the dependable mid-fielder. I think it is good that it is over with Chelsea and he moves on forward. Essien still has a lot of football to give at 31, and he will help the Black Stars whatever betides. I wish Michael Essien a very Happy New Year 2014 and success in his newly-won freedom as, he finally moves away from Chelsea and his "father" Coach Mourinho!
