Selecting the best possible players as possible,I highly doubt, these guys are truly the best in the league, even good old Liberty Professionals would have played far better football than this. How did the Mpongs,Yahaya Mohammed,Sulley Mohammed, the number 10 make the list??? We only had three decent midfielders in Anobaah,Opuku and Akkufo and even then Akkufo and Opoku didn't dare go forward.

You couldn't have hit the nail right on the head my brother. Compared to the defence the offence was woefully pathetic. Throughout the tournament, the signs were on the wall. Whilst the defence was well organised almost impregnable, the midfield and attack appear non-existent. In fact yesterday, I don't remember us creating any clear cut chance. The forwards seem to lose ideas in the final third and the crosses were as if school boys were on display. The Libyan keeper just had the luxury of catching long range speculative shots. I think the lesson from our experience is that you cannot win competitions without creating chances to score goals. Hope Akwasi Appiah has taken note.

Even if Appiah takes note, what can he do if the strikers aren't performing? Bancey is the leading goal scorer in our premier league and he was horrible upfront along with Yahaya Mohammed. We need to go back to the rudiments of the game as a nation and make sure kids leaning how to play are taught the proper basic skills. I hope the soccer academies are doing that. We played as if there was nothing at stake. Our ball control, passes and set pieces were so horrible. Why were we playing high balls when the Libyans were taller than us? I'm sure Konadu spoke with them about it but they did their own thing on the field. Yuk

The lesson learned from this tournament is that Ghana can produce some excellent defenders and holding midfielders. However, the attacking type of players will mostly be those who have spent much time in Europe or born and raised there. For the real senior team, it is evident that no matter what anyone says, KPB will have to be a part of the team. If we want a chance to bring home hardware we need some of the "foreign players" who like to attack.

It is clear Bancey and Sulley Mohammed have great potential as strikers. But their inexperience was very evident. Their problem was made worse because the midfield was inept and inexperienced as well and thus unable to feed the strikers with even simple passes and crosses. In short there was a lack of balance in the team. Having said that, we ought to remember we were playing against the proper Libyan national side comprising players with more international and experience. Maxwell Konadu's defensive organisation will come in handy for the Black Stars. But I believe we have experienced and intelligent players to deliver killer passes to the strikers. So as we seek to build a solid defence we must also develop a lethal attacking system to ensure we have an all round balance team. That's what I meant by asking AA to take note and I hope he does. It will make Ghana very formidable.

I was not surprised that we did not win the trophy. I had said earlier that the local Black Stars weakness was exposed when we played Nigeria. There was no free flow passes Ghana is known for. Our boys played as if we were playing rughby, just kicking the ball to anywhere without applying the senses. We were too physical and I knew we will not get away with this style of play when we have a North African as the referee. It was like the referee was fully out to catch Ghana rough/foul moves (though the officiating was okay) unlike when we played Nigeria.
Our coaches should please teach our boys how to play good soccer. We cant afford to play this way in the World Cup. Thank God that it is not the same set of players.

When preparation plus opportunity produce success, others call it luck. It is clear to anybody who watched this match that Ghana's team did not prepare well in the attacking department of the game as well as for the penalty shoot out. One thing that got my goat during the penalty shoot out was how our goalkeeper was not focused when the first two goals were scored by the Libyans. When those two shots were about to be taken, our goalkeeper kept bouncing up and down the goal post like a clown instead of keeping his focus on the Libyan players who were taking these goal kicks. In the end, we conceeded two needless goals that put us at a disadvantage right from the beginning. I believe our goalkeeper must have been talked to and hence his calm composure and proper focus thereafter but by then we were fighting from a disadvantaged position and hence we lost.
Secondly, the quality of some of the shots given by the Ghanaian players left much to be desired as some of them did not put their very best into it.
Maxwell Konadu should simply apologise to Ghanaians for not properly coaching our guys to avoid these silly errors that deprived us of victory. Luck had nothing to do with it at all!!!

Maxwell Konadu should give no excuse for failing to lift the cup or blame his failure on luck. He should take a second look at all the matches Ghana played esp against Nigeria if its a match he'll ever be proud as a coach to watch again, except for the penalty kicks that earned his team tge finals berth.?
Black Stars have completely abandoned what is called 'football' and adopted what to them is called win at all cost christined "One Goal Project", a method that masses the defence with ten players, with one striker occationally thrown upfront to do a Gallamsey style prospect for penalty. With this crude method of winning a match which has become the hallmark of the Ghanaian football; how can Konadu count on luck when most times 80% to 90% of playtime takes place in your half of the field.
Ghana's One Goal Project is failing, it failed in 2013 at Afcon in South Africa, and has failed again at CHAN 2014. The method is crude and its ante-football, it doesn't complement the fairplay crusade FIFA had preached over the years. This crude way or style of scoring a goal through solicited penalty goal and subsequently park defence with ten players while all manner of bruttal tackles are deployed to defend a defective "One Goal Project" will never find favour in FIFA rules of the game of football. Unfortunately this is the extent to which Milovavic has influenced tge destructions of Ghana football. Ghanaians undobtedly are hungry for national honours at the senior football level hense this embrace of dishonourable way of achieving it. The rest of Africa are amazed Ghana's football is getting destroyed by the day, so the advices by the opposing coaches to their players is 'Becareful with the Ghanaian antics in the box' What a shame Ghana has stopped playing football because it is increasingly becoming clear the Black Stars are unable to score goals from regular playtime hense the adoption of soliciting or prospecting for penalty to win matches.
Worthy of note is CHAN is a second tier to AFCON so cannot be ranked equally, even if Ghana had won the CHAN it will not have ended the 32 years wait to win trophy at most senior level, this accounts for the reasons why Akwesi Appiah was excused from handling the CHAN squard cos its rated second to the AFCON. Records or history will never have made it a fith win for Ghana at Black Stars level so the 32 years wait continues.

I don't know if I watched a different black stars team but I was really surprise they went that far. There was no coordination at all; the defense was solid but from the mid-field upwards, they were horrible. I could not see any game plan. They lost possession easily, mostly through aimless long kicks, they dribbled into each other - and even collided during the final, sometimes you have 2 or 3 attackers on the same flank and they still cross the ball into their opponents defense, there were no strategies for free kicks and many more. Maxwell should review the tape with other sports analyst and he will see where the team fell short.
Generally Libya was a more coordinated side and threatened more often than we did...that is if we did at all. Well, I remember just one. The fact that most of our goals throughout the tournament were from penalties tells you how lucky we were.
All the same, congratulations to the boys for being lucky...candidly, I wouldn't say they deserved to be in the finals. This is the truth most Ghanaians hate but we have to accept it so that we can equip ourselves better for future engagements.

"We practised penalties for 4 days". We did this, we did that etc. Konadu himself talked too much etc. No mind game but release all strategies and secrets. Of course we often did so and lost after then. Konadu and all the Coaches must learn how to play 'mind games' - use of psychology, intelligence etc to win games even before kicks offs. Raw talks and too much attention to the press during tournaments are not good. Now your secrets of specializing on penalties did not work as the very first two were wasted.
(3b) We started sinking when Yahaya was brought in. He may be a giant in local matches but in this tournament he was absolutely useless. Why bring him in to the finals? Everything he did was NEGATIVE - fouls, wrong passes etc. Konadu must get the statistics of how many good efforts Yahaya made (POSITIVES) and subtract from the NEGATIVES and he'll find me right.
(4) Football is made up of ATTACK and DEFENCE and both must be sharpened if one wants to win matches. We did not have any sharp attacker who was EVER HUNGRY FOR GOALS. Konadu childishly revealed to world that our strength is in the defence so the intelligent Lybian Coach made sure that they kept pressing us at the defence. Freeman, don't underestimate the joy of Ghanaian over the defeat of Nigeria in the just concluded CHAN tournament. Ghanaians cherish beating Nigeria than winning a trophy and that's the reason why trophy honour has eluded the Black Stars for the past 35 years. Ghana all of the time celebrate mediocrity and that's what accounts for the continued celebrations of 2010 world cup exploit in South Africa. Ghana requires refreshed orientation and a stronger mentality that goes beyond unneccessary rivalry with Nigeria; afterall Ghana won 4 African cups when Nigeria and Cameroon hadn't won any, today the cup winnings have been equalled by Cameroon and Nigeria has closed the gap to one difference. Ghana needs to wake up and stop celebrations of failures.

Twice we have reached the final of CHAN and lost.
Max Konadu has emerged as one of best coaches, and a good tactician, bringing the best from his players and achieving results. He does seem to be a good tournament coach.
Stephen Adams has staked a claim for the third goal-keeping spot for our World cup squad. He should be called up to play a friendly to see if he can perform at a higher level.
Congratulations all round, lads and management team!
