  After Wilberforce Bulldozer Mfum left Kotoko in 1968 to play in the USA, the task of scoring goals fell on Malik Jabir, Osumanu Orlando, Abukari Gariba, and Osei Kofi. These same guys also played for the Ghana Black Stars. Malik and Abukari scored in the 1971 African Club Championship game in Kinshasa to clinch a 2-1 victory as Tshinabu missed the penalty and Kalala, Kakoko could not beat Robert Mensah.
  
  In 1980 after The Black Stars flopped in the African Cup they travelled to Liberia where Malik's trademark 40 yard grounder led to a 1-0 victory for the Black Stars as Adolf Armah anchored the midfield.
  
  He scored 2 great goals in AFCON 1970 using his left foot and put through passes from Ibrahim Sunday
  
  When the mini-world cup was staged in Brazil in the 1970s, the African coach asked for Malik Jabir, Oliver Acquah and Dan Oppong.
  
  Malik happy to know that you are alive and doing fine.

YES KOTOKO AND HEARTS ARE NOT LEADING THE WAY THESE TIMES, LIKE THE FAMOUS AND GREAT CLUBS IN MANY COUNTRIES INCLUDING AFRICA ARE DOING, BUT THE ANSWER ALSO DWELLS IN PLAYER MOTIVATION, REWARD AND SOME LOYALTY TO CLUB. GHANA ABOUNDS IN FOOTBAL TALENTS TO BE HARNESSED AND ENHANCED. MOREOVER, TIMES HAVE CHANGED AND PLAYERS EVEN IN GHANA MUST BE PAID SUFFICIENTLY.

  the problem is Ghana is not producing the best players like we used to. it's not like other teams beside kotoko and hearts have quality players themselves. there are eye catching talents at the moment in the local scene. we are back in the drought season again. in the early 2000 we benefited from the emergence of Sulley Muntari, Micheal Essien, laryea Kingston, John mensah, and/or Stephen Appiah. Today who do we have? today all we're left with are mechanical midgets who are better of doing carpentry. hearts and kotoko are not the problem. we are not producing quality players

  to add to what you have said malik & his collegues burst unto the scene by 1968 & by 1976 had fizzled out winning only one african clubs championship cup and failing to qualify for the nations cup & the world cup when football was less competitive on the african continent. kotoko players of that era especially Reverend Osei Kofi & Mfum are still under the illusion that they played all the best football to be ever played in Ghana.
  That not withstanding I still believe that malik jabir in particular or ibrahim sunday should replace oti akenteng as technical director of the gfa.

  But Malik has not said they remained good long after taking the cup in 1971, did he?
