Our humble coach got little money and what he thought about was the plight of our young kids and how to improve their lives. He was not selfish, he went ahead and bought a land to build an academy. Thus at least he can give back to his country's children.
The later got more money and what did he do with it, cars, cars and more luxury cars. How many cars can one drive in a day.
Life is not always about what your selfish deed can promote but what your inner feelings can do to elevate the lives of others.
If Gyan deserve anything at all, its not a doctorate by a commendation for being able to acquire such fleet of cars. Though I do not dispute couple of investments Asamoah Gyan has made lately. I would encourage him to be a role model for our kids to look up to.
James Akwesi made the right decision and he earned a doctorate degree and must be commended.

So I will tell you for free, Sir Alex more than deserves his title, oh the Queen of England does not give away her titles cheaply. K. Appiah has done well, I am a big fan of his but then I do not think qualifying Ghana to the WC deserves a doctorate degree. If he wins the WC then maybe but not as things stand right now. POW, do you have a degree? If you do, then you will appreciate how much hard work goes into it, Masters ?, copious reading, tons of hours of reading, researching and writing a thesis, Doctorate ?, well that is a different ball game altogether. POW, do you have any idea of what we are talking about here? I somewhat doubt it

There's one side of it where one has to write all those thesis and there's the other side where just for one's generosity etc to a school, society etc can lead to that so you folks shouldn't look at just the academic point to judge this. Is this the first time, no. I made mention of Sir Alex because of GHANFUO'S question that says "Since when did you need a degree to coach?" You certainly don't need to be a "Sir" to be able to coach abi? I'm not trying to compare them at all because we all know how big and wide the difference is. Appiah is not in Alex Ferguson's class.

If he take all the required classes and gain the Doctor of Psychology in Sports, then he has done well. This degree will help him cope with the players even better than previously. I believe Jose Mourinnho had something like that before he became a scout, then an assistant coach, then a coach.

Now, with Sir Alex Ferguson, he acquired his by his numerous trophy winnings like Santa stated. Becoming a SIR, doesn't require any programs from an institution. However, Doctor of Psychology in Sports, requries taking classes which comes with researching, thesis and the rest.

Anyway, all the same, I will congratulation to our coach for going all the way to the end. I pray he takes us that far in the WC 2014.

Ebo, I have read, with interest, your comments and would like to share my views with you on the subject.
There are only two categories of Twi, namely, Asante & Akuapem Twi. No, the Kwahus and Akyims are not carbon copies of any fake Asantes as you put it. These two groups i.e. Kwahu & Akyim speak dialects of Twi - which means, these are not languages in that aspect of linguistic, but rather dialects of Twi.
Asante & Akuapem are languages which can be written and read. For that matter, Twi books are either written in Asante or Akuapem Twi and not in Kwahu, Akyim, Brong etc, etc. I hope, I have been able to clarify things, vividly, to your understanding.

Yes, we know. But awarding a PhD just because of qualification to the world cup sounds a little silly. What is so special about qualifying a team to the world cup? Throughout history how many coaches have been awarded a PhD for qualifying a team to the world cup? They saw a coach with no college education and concluded he will love to be called Doctor. So they offered to make a mockery of him. With 5 slots for Africa, Ghana was bound to qualifying at some point under a Ghanaian coach. It is not like the past when Africa had only two slots.

I don't believe this school has the accreditation that it claims and the doctorate is not worth the paper it's printed on. Unfortunately some ignorant fools in Ghana are going to start addressing Kwasi Appiah as 'Dr.' . This diminishes the efforts that deserving people who work so tirelessly to achieve such qualifications, be it academically or through social and philantropic work. What a joke.
