I love, respect and admire Essien for his contributions to Ghana football and that is why it is particularly difficult to come out in clear language about his fitness for the world cup.I don't think for a minute that if Michael was anywhere near his former shape we would be having this conversation.We would have been here boasting,predicting and basting in his future exploits at Brazil but unfortunately it is not so.Michael Essien should heed to common sense and yield his place to a younger and much healthier player.We will love to remember Michael for his grand and patriotic achievements and will rue any taint put on it by a forced participation in the Brazil which will end in an inevitable flop and disappointment in his performance.We all love Essien that is why we counsel he exercise clear eyed pragmatism going forward from here.
