Assifuah was the top goal scorer at the under 20 world cup, and no one in his right mind at the time would have said the coach should play Yiadom instead of Assifuah. Ghfuo argued that Sellas Tetteh was just trying to promote Assifuah at the time, but I strongly disagree. We almost got eliminated from the group stages. If Sellas thought that Boakye was his trump card, he would have given him way more time ahead of the other players, especially since his neck was on the line right from day one, when we lost 1-3 to France. Again, if Boakye was really a Maradona kind of player, when we got to the semi finals and Sellas had finished selling his players as Ghfuo argued, why was Boakye not given more time to score goals. We could have won the cup, if he had any goad to add to what Assifuah had provided.

Ghfuo, if you tell me that Boakye is better than Jordan, I will agree with you, but don't tell me he is better than Accam or Assifuah. That will be harder to argue. You claim that the Spanish league is better than the Swiss leagu-e. Fine, I agree. But not by as much as you claim. If every goal in the Spanish league is worth three in the Swiss, French, and Swedish leagues, you will expect that every time teams from those leagues meet, the score margins will be very wide, like 5-0, or 9-0. But I don't remember it always being like that?

Jordan is only 22, but I believe Boakye's real age is more like 28, since he started playing for Bechem United in 2003. According to his footballing age of 21, he was only 10 years old when he started playing for Bechem United (That one, na big lie). Jordan is on the team for three reasons: (1) He is better than most 22 year olds, and that suggests that he has the potential to do much better in the future. (2) Dede will not give his best if you take Jordan out (3) There might be some politics involved (Abedi and Appiah politics). However, you need to understand that politics is part of life. If taking Jordan out means you can't have Dede on the team, then you need to consider the two together. If Boakye's performance exceeds the performance of both Dede and Jordan, it will make sense for the coach to take his chances and drop Jordan and see what happens. Again, even if Boakye's current performance exceeds the performance of Abedi's two sons, we all know their true ages to be 24 and 22 respectively. They still have a lot of time to prove themselves, and might eventually become some of the best players Ghana ever produced. Most of the other players are aged 28 and above, and don't have as much time left, judging from their real ages. If I had a player who could play another 20 years for me, I will not want to alienate him and bring in and older player who will be warming the bench. Boakye is not going to be a first team player in the Black Stars, as long as Gyan, Warris, and Kevin are fit. If he is going to be warming bench, then you might as well let Jordan do the bench warming, since at 22, he even has the potential to score. Again, Boakye is better than Jordan at the moment, but you cannot ignore the politics of the situation. Politics is part of life. Boakye is a good player, but not a stand out player. He is not the kind of player whose presence will be sorely missed, like a Maradona or a Ronaldo. Boakye is at best at the same level as Assifuah, Accam, and Otoo. He is not better than Warris. Warris took his chances when he was invited to play for the Black Stars, and that's why he is still on the team. Boakye couldn't even score against Sudan. Go and watch the clips on Youtube.

Anyone, can call anybody names, but not everyone can make a good logical argument. If playing in the toughest league is what makes a player fit for the national team, why aren't all the countries taking only Spain based players to the world cup? Based on your logic, anyone playing in Spain and scoring goals must go to the world cup. Boakye has scored 6 goals in 30 appearances in Spain. Double that. Let's say that he would have scored 12 goals in Sweden. That doesn't put him ahead of Accam or Warris. If Boakye is going to make the team, he has to produce stats that are clearly better than those of other players. If he is only marginally ahead of other players, he might rightly be kept out based on other factors such as the position he plays in, and whether he will actually be playing or warming bench even if he were invited.

Yiadom is used primarily as a super sub like gedo for his club. I get so irqte with his club when I watch him play. Clearly, without yiadom, elche would be going tonrelegation. Elche have decent defense and mids, but can't score. That's why they have so many draws. And dats also why he has 6goals know 30apps. This is his first season with a club that got promoted. The last liga have better defensive teams and top strikers. Even real Madrid and. Barcelona didn't win the lg this yr like they always do. It's a very tough lg. This is wat we call actuary. Mark, do u know wat actuaries do? U have to look at the toughness and competitiveness of last liga compared to other lgs. The number of games yiadom has played. The number of minutes he has played. Goals scored. Assists and penalties obtained by yiadom to get his overall performance for his club. By the way, like I say he is not even a starter, but he has the most goals on the team. If yiadom scored 12 goals in Sweden, he would be. Be far ahead than accam and jordan. Intact, yiadom would be doing as well as warris right now. Like insay, AA is crazy or politically motivated to select others over yiadom. Becos based in merit alone, yiadom is in a different lg than accam and jordan

If somebody had suggested replacing Boye and Inkoom, with Ainooson and Edusei, we might have had something more worthwhile to talk about. Ainooson and Edusei are good defenders, but even they have not been sufficiently tested, and that is why the coach might have decided to play it safe and invite Boye and Inkoom ahead of them. I would definitely have taken a gamble with Edusei, but again, it will be just that - a gamble.

As has been said both hear and in other forums, AA is only going to pick players he trusts. He needs to know what the players he picks can produce and what they are capable of UNDER PRESSURE. The WC is not a place for gamble ...

The WC is not a place for gambles unless you have a truly exceptional or promising talent. AA was never going to pick untried players, particularly in defence.

They have played a lot nicer have incredible stamina. They helped their teams win back to back lg titles. They won wafu solely on defence and did the same at chan tournament. I don't understand why ppl are underlying our best local players. We relied on these same locals for u17, 20, 23, chan teams so why can't we believe in them for wcup. We rather rely on loose change, foreign based players like boye, nkum, Jordan, accam who are untested. Hwee eni kotr3 y3m! Believe in yr lg like the foreign coaches who did and relied on mohammed and illiasu and quaye. These same local boys will get a foreign contract to see africa, egypt or Europe and then we will all flock to them. That's quite silly don't u think? The problem is, Ainooson hasn't been tested against world class opposition, so I cannot bet my last dollar on him, because who is to say he will not make some of the same mistakes when he is pitted against very good opposition? Personally, I don't care where a player plays. I believe good players can come from any league. That said, I have been watching clips of Mahatma Otoo lately, and I can tell you, Otoo should actually have been invited. The guy is really good.

We all have opinions about who should be in our final 23, but as far as I can make out, most people agree that AA has made a fair job of it. Time to support the Black Stars and not carp in the background. There will be more time for that after the WC if things don't go our way.
