In the article “We will die for Ghana against USA – Gyan” I said:

“Defenders - 100% switched on at all times” – they did not do this and conceded a goal in 31 seconds. Today Appiah concedes we lost focus. It is not his fault, it is the fault of the personnel on the field!

“Make good use of set-pieces especially corners. Don't hit corners that clears everybody and runs out of play, or corners that fail to clear the first defender” – Most of our corners never got past the first defender. Delivery of set pieces was poor especially from Muntari

“Also all Black Stars players (especially Gyan, Dede, Jordan) should run with the ball into the USA 18” – this resulted in our goal

“just get the ball into the danger area” – we did not do this

Also, later in the comments section I said:

“I dont like is when their shorts are so low that their underwear and most of their bum is showing” – Yesterday Jordan Ayew seemed more interested in pulling down his shorts to show his buttocks rather than playing football!

This USA match was an ideal opportunity for us to secure a good position in this so called "Group of Death" and we made a complete mess of it. Credit to our boys though, I thought they did extremely well to calm the storm after Clint Dempsey's first minute goal as I felt it was going to turn into a crazy match. However, our defending off the set piece is shocking to say the least and it is what teams like Germany and Portugal will target in our up and coming matches. I really don't like commenting badly about our coaches but... Appiah did not really have a game plan and even if he did... he didn't communicate it well enough to the players to execute on the pitch. We just kept mindlessly booting the ball forward hoping the likes of Gyan and Atsu (an extremely promising player may I add) would perform some kind of miracle for us in the final third. We barely gave Andre Ayew any opportunities to attack that left hand side and the one time we did and he linked up with Gyan we scored a goal in the 86th minute. We're incredible athletes. We're quick and we're strong. However the overall decision making in this game was poor to say the least a factor which demonstrates the sheer lack of coaching ability from Appiah who frankly, should have communicated tactics to the team better. Muntari as ever was solid in CM but he had no one to really back him. As much as I love Michael Essien he looked off the pace when he came on the pitch and KPB was just extremely wasteful in possession and tried to take the glory for himself taking silly long range shots. If it was looking difficult to escape this group before... the task is now proving to be equivalent to climbing Mt Everest! Many Europeans pundits and players alike frequently bastardise African football due to the severe lack of development and it showed last night, it was all brawn and no brains. I love our team so much, but we need to use our heads more and our coach needs to stick to a solid base/game plan to make us well organised like the Americans were last night.

Reports out of our team camp in Brazil suggests that KVP and Essien have clashed and fallen out of favour with Appiah hence their omission from the side.

We made it so easy for them to play. Our central midfielders did not push the tempo of the game, it was slow and extremely easy to anticipate. Atsu is talented but wasted chances. We just played the long ball forward, despite not having a big man up front to hold the ball up... Because the pace of the game was so slow, the Americans were able to defend against most of our attacks for the majority of the game. We could hardly get our danger man Gyan into the game. The painful thing is these issues are so easy to rectify, I just wish our manager could effectively get the message across to the players.

Asamoah should not be playing left back, (although he is hailed for his versatility) he should be CM and I feel Ghana's best formation would be a 4-3-3 with a Midfield and Attacking combination of Gyan, A.Ayew, and Atsu as our front three with Essien, Muntari and KPB in the Midfield. Fortified with an EXPERIENCED defensive combination.

We have so much potential as a team we showed that in South Africa 4 years ago. The stereotype that exists within the minds of Europe and most of the world is that African teams are generally undisciplined and lack the technical skill to be effective in competitions. We're written off and criticised for our lack of decision making etc and from what I saw from Appiah's team the other day they are right. We're too weak off set pieces and dead ball situations. This failure directly leads into the debate surrounding the status of black coaches in West African football being branded as useless. The odds for us to get out of this group are now astronomical. I still believe we'll do something though. Actually belief is the wrong word... more HOPE than anything else.

It's all because Nyantakyi just wanted an ass-kisser. If we were wasting chances, why not make substitutions. Or he was thinking that our strikers (unproductive Asamoah Djan and Jordan) will score after 100 attempts each? Some strikers!

Jordan is not a player that should start and he was in the game far too long. We are thinking that the three fluke goals he score in a friendly would be repeated in a real game. Won't happen again in your life time! Just before the half, he got a chance to score. His shot was so weak, Howard could have taken a nap before catching it. Lastly Jordan was the only player in the whole tournament who was wearing his underwear outside his shorts. He spend most of the night pulling down his short just to expose his underwear. He is representing our country, not some third rate relegated French team.

And when Appiah wanted to sub a player, he decided on a player, like Atsu who was making things happen on the field. And he was subbed for Adomah? Did anybody see Adomah with the ball?

Well, we are in for a quick 0 and 3 WC exit. At least the Serbian coaches took us to the group stage and beyond.

Our so called group of death was not one at all there was a silver lining which Akwasi Appiah who is less endowed with scenario building and probabilities has given away. The America was our trump card we should have gone all out gun blazing and taking our three points and left the rest to fate to determine but we AKWAISI FAILED with his stupid underrating of the American team which we don't do do any crucial game like this or any. He under estimated the American team and it cost us. To me we are going no where. You made small boys play with an angry man this is what you get You should have hammered the Americans to bits that is it

At least, 'wine, wine' could have being a soothed for my wounds but 'too wine' against us paa before we start to climb the Okwawu mountains is a total disaster for us.

I don't think we can survive at this stage and only ALMIGHTY GOD intervention could save us. If not, there is no hope again.

All the USA did was paid attention to detail, something we failed to do, Klinsman set his side out to play to their strengths and they did just that. The right side of our midfield and defense lost concentration in the very first 30 seconds of a game of this importance, the Americans held up their until the 84th minute. We conceded a goal from a set piece and yet failed to convert any of ours. I do not think KA prepared our team well enough. Are we going to do any better against Germany and Portugal, teams that are much better than the USA? We shall see but not a good beginning for K Appiah at all.

Reports out of our team camp in Brazil suggests that KVP and Essien have clashed and fallen out of favour with Appiah hence their omission from the side.

We made it so easy for them to play. Our central midfielders did not push the tempo of the game, it was slow and extremely easy to anticipate. Atsu is talented but wasted chances. We just played the long ball forward, despite not having a big man up front to hold the ball up... Because the pace of the game was so slow, the Americans were able to defend against most of our attacks for the majority of the game. We could hardly get our danger man Gyan into the game. The painful thing is these issues are so easy to rectify, I just wish our manager could effectively get the message across to the players.

Asamoah should not be playing left back, (although he is hailed for his versatility) he should be CM and I feel Ghana's best formation would be a 4-3-3 with a Midfield and Attacking combination of Gyan, A.Ayew, and Atsu as our front three with Essien, Muntari and KPB in the Midfield. Fortified with an EXPERIENCED defensive combination.

We have so much potential as a team we showed that in South Africa 4 years ago. The stereotype that exists within the minds of Europe and most of the world is that African teams are generally undisciplined and lack the technical skill to be effective in competitions. We're written off and criticised for our lack of decision making etc and from what I saw from Appiah's team the other day they are right. We're too weak off set pieces and dead ball situations. This failure directly leads into the debate surrounding the status of black coaches in West African football being branded as useless. The odds for us to get out of this group are now astronomical. I still believe we'll do something though. Actually belief is the wrong word... more HOPE than anything else.

Watching the game, felt like some of these talented players were not playing as a team. Instead, I observed a lot of individualism which costs us the 3 points.

Moving on to the next match against Germany, what is the game plan? If we play the same as we did against the US, then we should start packing our bags.

The team needs to start playing as a team instead of "showing off" without out scoring any goals. We need to put pressure on Germany and Portugal from the beginning and make sure we strengthen the defense. That's the only way Ghana will have a chance to advance to the next round.

It is rather the positioning of the players that was faulty. Essien and Kevin Boateng should have started instead of Atsu and Rabiu. Waris should have taken Jordan's place as starter and Kwadwo Asamoah should have played midfield as always. I hope the coach will do a better job of calling the experienced players and properly positioning them in their next game.

First of all, Jordan looked nervous before the game started, the managers selection was wrong, anybody can see this. John Boye is not a defender he is not even a footballer, he looks so uncomfortable with a football.
Then Rabiu, although Rabiu was solid, we did not need a solid player, we need a match winnder in Midfield, the highlight of Ghana team for me is Kwadjo Asamoah, the boy can play.
Atsu has potential but alot of work to do.
The local coach showed that he is tactically inept! A foreign coach would have got his selection right and tactics right.

2 days before the match I wrote a comment revealing the strategy the US will employ. Here it is " From the blast of the whistle they(US) would go hunting for the ball so that they’d be the first INITIATE an attack and keep Ghanaians at bay with surgical COUNTER ATTACKS. If it’s not working, they(US) would modify and repeat it along similar lines because they will have no time to change strategy. The whole US team will seek to retain their functional shape and be attack minded". Everything I foresaw and wrote including our poor set piece marking came through yet our coach, paid several thousands of dollars couldn't even see it.

And I wrote further the strategy Ghana should adopt. Here it is. "Despite the strategy of the US, the bond in their team is not strong. If tested with a dominant pressing and massive pressure, their team will be overrun. Ghana need to apply their experience and attack them incessantly. Because the US will be attack-minded like the Germans, their defensive lines will be strained, this is where Ghana needs to capitalize, apply quality, style, natural flare and direct purpose to get in behind and score." I revealed that we should aimed at using Sellas Tetteh under 20 attacking model to overrun their defence. Why do you as a coach go and adopt Manchester City's low rhythm passing for a young inexperience team? The fact that you're using a Manchester City video analyst does not mean we should play like Manchester city which is an English way of playing. In Ghana we either counter attack like Milo taught us or press high to overrun opponents defence like Sellas Tetteh showed. That is what has worked for us. Akwasi Appiah should stop experimenting with our team.

He even bombed in the Holland warm up match and was removed after the first 45 minutes yet he was the one the coach chose to build his attack around him and left Prince Boateng on the bench, played Dede out of position and it was a mess. We needed three holding midfielders because the Rabiu, Sulley and Essien to play together in that game. We were playing the world cup, not the Africa cup of nations. Appiah should use his brains.

On that AA, you are correct. Our defense was lost total focus and concentration. It needs to be beefed up totally into a real defense because against the Germans, who have demonstrated that, they can score goals and lots of it, an unfocused defense, which is not cohesive and ironclad, would be a petrifying disaster.
We created a few good chances and our inability to convert them made all the difference in the game. Our problem has always been about our ability to convert our chances not matter how small they are. It's a challenge that needs to be addressed from the ground up, from our score academy level, and currently, identifying talents like Jordan, and working on them relentlessly to cry, hunt, poach, for goals. We need strikers who are addicted to goals and are going to convert our chances 99% of the time.
Because really, if we are creating the chances and there's no potent goal addicted striker(s) upfront, it would be difficult. Against Germany, we need to convert at the minimum, all the chances we can get, and win that duel, either than that, it would be bedtime for us in the mundial.

None of our payers can read the game, none of them understand the requirement of the positions they play at, none of them understand the need to play as a team to achieve a common goal, none of them know how to tackle and win the ball without committing a foul, none of them understand defensive responsibilities, none of them is capable of penetrating a defence with the sole aim of putting the ball in the net, none of them understand the need to keep the ball and bring others into play, none of them is capable of giving an accurate pass, none of them can read the game, when in progress, and adapt their tactics to suit, none of them have the capability to protect one another during play and to cover up for ones mistake, none of the players have the divine ability to run with the ball and give an accurate pass, none of them understand set-piece play and defence, none of them has a leadership quality, which was evidenced hroughout the game yesterday.
Asamoah Gyan, for large period yesterday, had a lost expression on his face, Atsu did not have the sense to correct his mistakes and continued to give the ball away or kicked it out of play. Andre Ayew,was lost in the game for large periods, the only time he came alive is when he realised he was playing in the world cup game, Jordan Ayew was out of his depth with inability,Sulley Muntari showed nothing of his experience and continued to under perform.The defence was non existent and Kwarasay, what should I say,was so scared, he was out of position all night. He was useless in coming for crosses,useless in not talking to the defenders, useless in jittering all night.
Did anyone noticed how ineffective and placid Kwesi Appiah was in not barking instructions at the players. Was he not watching what klinsman was doing with his backroom staff and how he was interacting with the players even though they were in the lead and in comfortable control all night.
Black Stars, enough of your lame excuses and admit that you don't have a clue of what to do from head to bottom. SHAME ON YOU ALL!

Akwasi Appiah has always overlook him…why do you think coach Milo prefers Agyeman Badu above coach AA’s favorite Rabiu?.Rabiu is trying his best but not well organized in the midfield ..just “buga buga de karifi” without vision…Badu or Essien just one pass upfront will cause havoc…. Why will coach AA field Muntari and Rabiu who can not hold the ball in the midfield??? ???How many trial or international friendly matches did his darling Opare play? Inkoom has been in “wars” to get experience..African cup of nations..3 world cups now..why leave him for “lazy” Opare? Coach AA must read games properly..why did he bring Adomah his favoritewhen he needed goals or to tighten the midfield…..for what?..just to come and ran??? Why experiment KASAM who is now a playmaker and left Afful? In fact there are more questions than answers…huh.. He should have fielded the experienced players ahead of the young ones and introduce them gradually…Coach AA stop starting the rising stars by heart to kill their confidence because they will be frustrated..just introduce them one by one in the course of the game and they will perform..so now what Akwasi is doing just select any 11 for a match? “player competition strategy???..Try to get your first 11 now..I even said use Ghana vrs Egypt set and strategy could have worked but he did not listen…Coach AA..don’t think you have reached levels so you will not listen and become stiff necked….you are a try and error coach so listen to the advise..
All is not lost yet, the Black Stars can arise and shine..They have to pause for a while for a sober reflections and forgive one another for the unfortunate mistakes ASAP…Coach AA must now look beyond favoritism and stop experimenting ASAP and count on experienced to move forward.
@ Gyan you are good but improve upon your headings in front of goal..”head downwards direction as if you want it to hit the ground” If you do it this way you can hit your target…..all your headings were up over the bar

you should have open your net to include some of the local blackstars defenders who did well at the wafu competition. we have natural good left footers like abdul rahman, emos frimpong, yaw frimpong, kissi boateng all you need to is tune them up and they will handle that position with ease. get a good natural left back and please play kwadjo asamoah in his natural position and see what difference this will make. we need a complete overhaul in the heart of of defence and to hell with the so called professionals who cannot even jump to contest a corner kick. abeiku aisoon, sulley of hearts of oak and kwabena adusei would have easily contested and cleared that corner kick.
and stop using "nkwadaa nkwadaa to start our games. a game which we could have easily won gone to shred as a result the technical team lack of depth in player selection. i though kwabena adusei should have been called to replace injured akaminko and adomah dropped for mahatma otoo. is adomah better than otoo no way.

KASA is a playmaker and could have caused havoc along side KP and Essien.
You play regular players and bring on the younger ones.
Why did the coach bring in Albert Adoma?
Where are Afful, Nkoom Ageymang Badu?
The coach is not good. Does he even understand english to read to craft out a strtegy?
Now we are out... If KP and Essien had played full throtle, with KASA as play makers, it would have been a different story.

Even coach Akwasi Appiah under rated them too. Why would he bench Essien and KPB and Warris. He thought New USA team is like S Korea so he was rserving them for Germany.We should have forotten Korea win.That game deceived us.

The conclusion was to come off swinging and earn the early goal and then play D. Ghana has one of the best offense in the World Cup in Andre Ayew, Gyan. Essien must start with Kevin Boateng to man the midfield. Replace the Goalie and get some experience in the backfield.
