No one can blame him for that goal. He was nowhere near the second goal so cannot be blamed for that either.

I agree a full tackle would have been reckless, HOWEVER, what Boye should have done is stay in position which would have forced Dempsey to go left, towards the goal line. This would have narrowed the angle and resulted in either a goal kick or at worst a corner kick. INSTEAD BOYE WENT SKIPPING past Dempsey, allowing him to cut to the right and have the WHOLE GOAL to aim at. I coach 7 year olds, and I always tell them to keep their feet on the ground and not hop. When you hop or skip like Boye did, you have no control over where your body goes. If you have one foot on the ground, you can change direction quickly, especially if you have done some agility training.
Boye didnt pull out of a tackle as you say, he skipped past Dempsey, then stuck out a reluctant backheel, but by that time it was too late.
Second Goal was not his fault.

From the kick off we make a series of comedy passes and almost lose the ball. Altidore almost gets the ball but John Boye comes forward to clear the ball and it goes out for a throw. Well done John Boye. So far, so good.

Its a throw-in, plenty time to re-set the team shape.

John Boye goes back into position where Altidore is standing, but Boye sees that Dempsey is moving into a pocket of space in front of him.

Boye leaves altidore (1st mistake - but Ghana was not punished for this) and starts moving towards Dempsey but at the same time calls out to Mensah to pick up Altidore. Boye takes a few steps forward into no-mans land, but Dempsey is too far from him, so Boye falls back into his position, but by this time Mensah has picked up Altidore, so Boye is free to concentrate on the movement of the ball and Dempsey who is several yards in front of him.

USA take the free kick, and the quick thinking Dempsey runs into the pocket of space in front of Boye. USA make some quick passes and Dempsey picks up the ball and starts to run into the box. Boye had gone for an afternoon stroll, and before he knows it, Dempsey is running like a steam train into the Ghana box. Boye then starts running to come and meet Dempsey, however he is running too fast and cannot stop in time, so he actually runs PAST Dempsey. Now that he is past Dempsey he sticks out a back heel, but Dempsey uses the outside of his foot to drag the ball to his right, open up the angle and is through on goal.
Boye should have been watching Dempsey before Dempsey even received the ball since he (Boye) was the one pointing at Dempsey. Boye should have stopped his run 3 steps before he actually did. This way, he would have stopped in front of the ball but a bit to Dempsey's right and Dempsey would have been forced to go left. This would have narrowed the angle and forced Dempsey to try to cross with his weaker left foot. Result: Goal kick or corner kick. By running past Dempsey, Boye left the channel open for him to have the whole goal at his mercy.

Muntari was tracking back from midfield and running behind Dempsey. There was noting he could have done from the position he was in, as any tackle would have been a tackle from behind, there would have been contact and a penalty awarded. However, a more intelligent player would have run, not behind Dempsey, but past him, to the goal line, to make a goal line clearance, but in reality, no blame can be attached to Muntari

The cause of our defeat is the coach (and GFA to some extent for their shambolic accommodation and tournament camping arrangements). After conceding early goals in friedlies with Turkey, Montenegro, and Netherlands, why did not the coach work to address this? Common sense!

Even before the match with USA, i commented to a friend that we may concede an early goal because of the history from our friendlies and this is exactly what happened. I am not a coach, but if even I was able to read it, why not the coach. the coach is responsible, not John Boye, for our defeat. Period!
