If they lose today's match against Costa Rica (which will make England knocked out,) Costa Rica will have 6 points while Italy remains at 3 points just like Uruguay. This will mean that, Italy will only qualify after beating Uruguay in their last match and this may be too difficult to do. So it might look like England is the team that needs favour from Italy but the truth is that if Italy jokes, they will be in danger. They can only guarantee their own qualification by beating Costa Rica.
