No more Games. We have not recovered from the scandals of the last games. We did not benefit from the last games in any form or fashion. This would be another avenue for some state officials to squander money. Let's concentrate on football development from the grass roots, and that is where I suggest Akwasi Appiah could be of better use instead of vilifying him.

If the hosting is used to create some strong infrastructure development then it is a good idea. This is when you improve roads, airports, water supply and electricity. It can also encourage the establishment of hotels and restaurants in some of the secondary cities. There should be a heavy promotional campaign to get Ghanaians to come back to Ghana to watch the tournament. If they are not going to do that, the tournament is better off in East Africa or even send it back to South Africa.

I wish GFA, Ministry of Sports and Ghana well in bidding to host AFCON 2017

It would a great honour if we can pull this off and also use this opportunity to upgrade some of our institutions such as sanitation and health, road and transport, law and security

All we ask is accountability, creation of green spaces for relaxation, promotion and development of youth sports throughout the country
We also hope a successful AFCON 2017 bid would enable the Ministry of Sports job create jobs, increase revenue collection in the tourism sector.

The effect will benefit everyone and increase our exposure to the outside world too.

This is another great chance for Nkrumah’s Ghana to shine and let’s all embrace it
Kudos to the efforts being made and May God help Ghana

What at all is wrong with this Mahama-led government? They seem to be making virtue of incompetence and childishness!!!

Going from one act of irrationality to another!!! In spite of the abysmal record of the state's adventure with state enterprises in general and in the airline business in particular, this govt has set out to establish a state-owned national airline AGAIN! As if that irrationality is not enough, now this football tournament hosting one too!

Given the huge, huge economic troubles of the nation today, the impecunious shape of the state treasury and the collapsing physical infrastructure of the country, what use at all is football to the incredible extent that this govt has embarked on an irrational dream to host AFCON 2017? Either this govt doesn't have its priorities in place or it doesn't have its head in place!

The only rationale for such irrationality is the political gain this faltering government believes it can reap from hosting AFCON 2017! This is a political act -- not a football act! And, certainly, not an economic act!

If it is Machiavellian politics -- resort to extraneous, political-gimmicky and emotional-laden measures to rally national support for the govt -- is what the govt wants to use to gain popularity and win support, then, they had better continue with that show of the president cleaning gutters! As for this particular one, hosting AFCON 2017, it will be too costly economically for the nation, an irrationality we cannot afford now!

Electricity gone dumsor dumsor; water supply running aground; school pupils scoring over 70 percent failure in final exams; classrooms under trees; sanitation system collapsing and producing cholera; national health insurance system failing; corruption rising!!! No idiot afflicted with these maladies will decide to host AFCON 2017!

Why can't our leaders behave responsibly?
Is this another opportunity for party loyalists to "chop the country small"? Are we going to refurbish old stadia and buy used floodlight equipment, inflate imported-item prices, fill people's pockets so they can acquire more filling stations. What country are we in? We can't even pay education grants; our health system is broken down;
We love football, but for heaven's sake President Mahama, this is more than a prestige venture; it is foolhardiness!
