Asamoah Gyan didn't need the captaincy to be famous or great. Numbers never lie and he has numbers to back his talk. He merits the captains armband and AA did the right thing in giving it to him.

It only mean anything when we are talking about African soccer. African soccer does not mean much either. Just look at the last two WCs.

Don't forget that AG scored all those six goals in three (3) WC appearances. Remember, James Rodrigues scored six (6) goals at the last WC? That was his first WC. Now, there at strikers (they take and waste zillions of shots and maybe might make one goal some day) and there are world class strikers (don't blink or he will score). Which of these is AG? AG has the bragging rights. Only African in soccer! Maybe also in his desert league too!!

This is the time for Ghana to offload under-achieving loud mouths like Asamoah Gyan, own-goal-proned players like John Boye, unproductive Jordan Ayew and lousy incompetent goalies like Fatau Dauda. If we want to win anything in the future as well as make a good impression at the WC, none of these excess baggage can be carried on board any longer.
