When one collapses, the person becomes unresponsive - stops breathing or the breath becomes shallow. In either instances, shake the patient,call out the name if you know and shout 'are you ok'? Call for help.Draw your ear close to the patient 's and feel for breath as you observe the rise and fall of his chest. Next palpate (feel) the coratid artery -it is the artery along the grove(hole) beside the Adam's apple . If pulse is felt, lay the victim on his side, to prevent possible tongue swallowing . I do not advise this but if there is no bag-mask -ventilator(ambubag) available try covering your lips around the victims mouth and blow two deep breaths every 6 secs. If there is no pulse, perform 30 compressions and two breaths(5 times,) To perform chest compressions, place the less dominant palm over the chest away from the xyphoid process. Place the dominant palm on the less dominant one and lean perpendicular over the chest and start compressing- 30 times and two breaths. After 5 cycles check for breath . Continue this until help arrives
