These people played for Kotoko and Ghana just for the love of club and country. Not like today's players who are at where they are because of what Osei Kofi an Co did years ago. In 1971, Osei Kofi refused to play fir Stoke C ...

In 1971 after winning the African Cup in Kinshasha Kotoko returned home to play a midweek game against Akotex of Akosombo.
Kotoko had paraded the Cup in front of 90,000 spectators before the game. Guess what? They were thum ...

Thank u GREAT OLYMPICS. I was at that game when the Troublesome AKOTEX pounced Kotoko 3-0. People at Ghanaweb are too young to have remembered this or too lazy & unprofessional not to have done their research. Always providin ...

Kotoko lost by the same margin in Kumasi against Cornerstones(1970) and that was the first game the late Robert Mensah played for Kotoko.

Our journalists must begin to be more serious and research into issues before coming up with such baseless facts. Arm-chair journalism will confuse our history

  • John Anamse 8 years ago

It was a midweek game and it was poorly attended because Kotoko supporters thought Akotex was minced meat. Kotoko did not parade their full strengh team. It was a big surprise anyway to us Kotoko supporters.

  • Yaw 8 years ago

With Robert Mensah in goal for Dwarfs, Dwarfs beat Kotoko in Cape Coast. That is Kotoko's worst defeat.

After that game Kotoko poached Robert Mensah to play for them.

  • Kwawo Onipaba AshTown Ksi 8 years ago

Kotoko breaks 80 year old record because Otumfour Osei Tutu is the curse on Asanteman and Asante Kotoko. The life patron of Kotoko is an ardent supporter of Accra Hearts of Oak and would wish Hearts succed rather than Kotoko. ...

The only thing the club should do is to call back KK Sarpong and his management to manage the affairs of the club or Herbert Mensah.

  • Adomako Frobour 8 years ago

It was a mid week game. Rev Botwe, May his soul rest in peace, was in goal. Akotex became a thorn for both Kotoko n Hearts.

  • bb 8 years ago

This is not true Akotex Football Club of Akosombo Textiles walopped Kotoko 3 goals to nil in a mid week league match in the seventies so this cannot be Kotoko's heaviest defeat in Kunasi in 80 years. It is a lie

  • Jacob Allen 8 years ago

By then we used to see the midweek games under the beautiful floodlights. And there was nothing like dumsor.

Nooooo. Cape Coast Dwarfs beat them at the venue in 1969 that caused them to buy keeper late Robert Mensah.

  • Yaw 8 years ago

    In Cape Coast, not Kumasi.

Football/Soccer is a combination of sports and business. not just sport. if you don't blend them together properly you'll continue to see what's happening at Kotoko and Hearts.

  • Nenebi 8 years ago

Football now is business and must be run like that. There must be a professional touch for it but these clubs in Ghana lack that. Kotoko must change hands and Otumfour, should give relinquish majority stake to a private inves ...
