If so, are there not laid down budgetary allocations for financing such matches? Does FIFA not give the MOYS/GFA a percentage of match proceeds after every match to cater for such expenses? So why is the minister claiming that they can not pay for airfares, and that they are cash strapped? This does not make any sense? There should be a budget allocation every year for such expenses. This is very irresponsible behavior from MOYS. If they cant pay bonuses, that is understandable, but to say they did not make any budgetary allocations for airfares and accommodations is highly irresponsible and should be condemned. What a joke???

I hope the Minister did not only claim that much financial problem to induce the wealthy Players to chip in to help. It would be most deplorable advantage taking of the Players by the Ministry.

If the Sports Ministry does not really have money to pay for all these expenses, then we should ask it where our shares of the proceeds from participation in previous games went.

We have for a long time not bothered to take the Ministry to task on the many irregularities with its finances. But we ought to begin to put things right for good. All the many incidents of lost cash in suitcases, etc. must be the thing of the past.

We cannot sit here and claim competence in Sports and nation-building and go begging for money from the participating Athletes on top of their know-how, expended energies and time to make Ghana proud.

It is a big shame unto the Government! I have come to believe, now, that revenues from our Sports Participation might have been re-channeled elsewhere to plug up massive bleeding of the Economy. Or, the Officials are simply corrupt and stealing the funds. Period!

He calls it patriotism for the players to pay their way to Ghana and return without a winning bonuses. Nii Lante should vacate the state bungalow, sacrifice his salary for 3 months and pay to fuel his official car for a year. Oh Nii Lante, why are trying to destroy what has been achieved?
