  Very sensible remarks from a legend of the African game. Qualifying for the WC in those times was really a hell, considering the dirty tricks most nations used in the qualifiers. Even when Cameroon's performance in 1990 helped increase the slots for Africa, we missed out on the 1994, 1998 and 2002 tournaments.

  I can tell U that Ghana was by far the best soccer nation on the continent with legendary players like Mohamed Polo, Ibrahim Sunday, Osei Kofi, Malik Jabir, Robert Mensah etc.
  Ghana style of play attracted big foreign teams to travel here to play against us. I remember "Stoke City" was defeated by Asante Kotoko with Osei Kofi clearly the best player on the pitch. The return leg was a narrow loss but again Osei was magical prompting the team to beg for his signature but it did not work out due to some obstacles put in his way by some big men in Ghana.

  Ghana has produced great soccer players in the past and even in our own era. But the real Ghanaian soccer legends in my humble opinion are: C.K.Gyamfi, Baba Yara, Aggrey Fynn, Osei Kofi, Robert Mensah, Abdul Razak, Mohammed Polo and Abedi Pele. There are other legends like Mfum, Kwame Adarkwa. Sunday Ibrahim, Tony Yeboah, Kuuku Dadzie, Stephen Appiah etc. But in my estimation none of them come close to the top 8. These top 8 are my all time greatest soccer legends in Ghana.

  Really?For every Catholic, the ideal situation is to visit Rome in one's lifetime. For a Muslim, it is Mecca and for every Great player,appearing at the World Cup is the crowning moment. It is unfortunate however that during your time, Africa had only one slot and that was taken by Tunisia.They were in the same group with Poland,West Germany and Mexico.They beat Mexico 3-1,drew 0-0 with West Germany but lost 1-0 to Poland.(this was at Argentina 1978).Due to this performance, Africa's representation was increased to two so at the 1982 World Cup, in Spain, Africa was represented by Roger Milla's Cameroun and Algeria. Algeria led by Raber Majer and Belloumi defeated West Germany 2-1 in the first game but W/Germany and Austria played a fixed match in their last group game to prevent Algeria from advancing from the group.Due to the performance of Cameroun at the 1990 World Cup in Italy,FIFA decided to increase Africa's slot to five and that is what has enabled Ghana to also have a feel of the World Cup.So Razak could also have gone to the Mundial but conditions during his time did not allow it. So no need crying over spilt milk. At least you won the Africa Cup for keeps but Acheampong did not fulfill his promise of providing each player with a house.
