It could also be that, during his club life, there was always activity. With the country management, there appears to be some "boredom" which might have set in too. With the current "awakening", we should expect better performances from him.

The Black Stars have lost value because there is no challenge in the team or competition so the players always think their positions are untouchable. The fact that we don't have a team he can't win match GFA should forget about some issues and called players who can win for the team, there is no personalities in the team anymore. We were having a great team the days of Abede but we couldn't even won any Africa Cup of Nation or even qualify to the world cup so will you say the coach in charge wasn't good or what? The coach I good but there was a problem in the days of Abedi the same apply to the Black Stars now there is no team. We have to change the team totally where in this world that team only depend on only one striker Gyan and if there is no Gyan there is win how and why? Atsu is not a good player thats why he fill in The English Premier league Jose took Atsu to Chelsea but he failed then gave him another opportunity to loan him so he can mature and come back but still he failed then sold him to another weaker team but still he failed to impressed but Atsu is King in the National team. Gyan is finished bcos in China he couldn't even impressed its always about injury but the fact is not injury just that he is done but why can't we replace him just bcos GFA is the problem they don't want the team to be change just bcos they managed those players so they will play them and we outsiders will blame the coach.

Secondly, your analysis of trophy winners is deeply flawed. Winning a trophy is not necessarily the sole yardstick/benchmark for selection into a national team. There is an interplay of other factors - consistency in current form, which league, bench warming, physique, positional demands, psychological, team work etc etc which cannot all be enumerated here. A good manager looks at a cross section of intertwined factors to make a reasonably good selection. YOUR ONE FACTOR APPROACH IS DOOMED TO BE DISASTROUS

All Kola is saying is that current form is very important in selecting players into a national team. For example, Inkoom was good when they won the U20 WC trophy BUT he is NOW woefully out of form. When they were originally selected, not all of them had won trophies; they were selected because they were in form (playing well at that time). In football, experience might not suffice if you are out of form.

I don't think Komla is a fool; he is rather making a lot of sense in his suggested criteria for selecting players into the national teams.

When it comes to the Black Stars as a team, we cannot be dreaming of winning the AFCON because
1. All the teams in which the first eleven Black Stars players are playing are middle table and championship clubs. Though few players like Waris, Agyemand Badu and Amartey are playing regularly for their clubs, these clubs are not title contenders in their leagues. What is the position of Panathinaikos (Mubarak Wakaso), Lorient (Majid Waris), Leicester City (Schulpp and Amartey), Aston Villa (Jordan Ayew), Newcastle (Christian Atsu), Anzhi Makhachkhala (Jonathan Mensah), John Boye, Schalke 04 (Baba Rahman), Torino (Afriyie Acquah), Udinese (Badu), West Ham (Dede Ayew), etc.? The list goes on and on. None of the current Black Stars players play in a team contending for a title in any of the top five leagues in Europe. Even Kwarase's team is not a power house in Europe because how far have Norwegian clubs gone in UEFA Champions League and Europa League matches? All these developments have a bearing on the general performance of the Black Stars as a team if our players are playing for title contending teams or not.
2. Complacency has crept in because Coach Avram Grant has not done much to ensure competition in the team. He brought in Phil Ofosu Arye from Germany and after a match he never called him again but always continue to call Edwin Gyima who is not featured in matches. The first eleven players know by default they will be invited for Black Stars matches even if they are warming benches at their clubs.
3. The players themselves have become very indolent at their clubs, causing them to lose their positions to other serious and committed players. Why is it that a very talented player like Daniel Opare who can play at both left and right full back cannot break into the Augsburg first team? They think as long as they are being paid their salaries, even if they don't sit on the bench it is enough because at the end of every week they will receive their salary.
4. Nyantakyi and his men at the GFA are still bither about Nii Lantey and are very happy the NDC lost so Nii Lanter will not harass them again. As long as they continue to play the hate card, it will continue to deepen the already crater in the set-up to become a caldera. It is now history.
Suggestions:
1. Our players should up their games even if they are playing for middle-table and championship clubs to guarantee a regular play time.
2. Some fringe players in Europe who will be in Ghana for the brief winter holidays should be observed critically through a justifier and subsequently invited to justify their selection into the final AFCON team.
Gone are the days when Eintranch Frankfurt of Germany, Olympic Marseilles of France and Bayern Munich of Germany were reluctant to release Tony Yeboah, Abedi Pele and Osei Kuffour respectively for national assignments because they were very irreplaceable.
I hope the new sports minister under the NPP government will do a lot to ensure adequate preparation for the team to deliver in Gabon but I am against the team's camping in Dubai again because Gabon will be hotter than Dubai cone January and February 2017.
