Sorry Dr. Gyan, I refuse to subscribe to the notion that the penalty drought is a curse. The way I see it is a combination of 3 factors: 1) Planning and preparation. You need to go back to the drawing board, identify and correct your mistakes, then practise, practise, and practise some more. Don't assume that just because your are Asamoah Gyan, the kicks will find the net. 2) Attention to detail. You should have a strategy or set of steps to follow (several steps, in fact, for different circumstances, not just one patented style). With penalties you DON'T ever want to become predictable. 3) Maintain a high level of confidence at all times. If you don't feel confident don't even think about offering to take that kick. The best way to improve your confidence levels is by sharpening your skills through......you guessed practice, and by having a strategy/steps in place so you are not just winging it or relying on luck. 4) Accept that you are going to miss one every now and then....and if you do miss one, don't dwell on it too much and let it eat away your confidence
