Former Chelsea defender Frank Sinclair wants teenage sensation Callum Hudson-Odoi to be given a chance against Manchester City when the two sides meet on Saturday.
Chelsea have beaten away from home against Wolves on Wednesday and the Blues looked leggy in the defeat even after Maurizio Sarri made five changes to the team that played against Fulham on Sunday.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek was one of the players who started in midfield for the Blues and impressed against Wolves, but Sinclair feels Hudson-Odoi, another Chelsea academy product, should get a run-out against Manchester City.
“Why not [play Hudson-Odoi]? I'm not against it”, Sinclair told Chelsea TV in the aftermath of the Blues’ defeat against Wolves.
“The youth always bring enthusiasm and he'll be fearless.
“He will be fearless. He will get the ball and go at the likes of [Kyle] Walker.
“Sometimes that's what you need."
Hudson-Odoi has largely been restricted to Europa League action in for Chelsea this season, having made one start and two substitute appearances so far in Europe.
The 18-year old scored against PAOK in late November but is competing with the mercurial Eden Hazard for a place in the first team.
