Representative of Michael Essien, Amougou Mathieu says his client will extend his stay at Indonesian side Persib Bandung for another year.
Essien joined Indonesian top flight Persib Bandung on a one-year deal as a marquee player ahead of the start of the 2017 Liga 1 season and was given the option of extending his contract for a further year at the end of the 2017/2018 season depending on his performances.
The 34-year-old instantly became a mainstay in the side, where he scored five goals in 23 appearances for the side as they finished 13th on the log.
According his agent, the 34-year-old will sign the optional one-year deal ahead of next season.
"Essien is still in Persib. Essien and Ezechiel N'Douasse on contract until next year, they are still in Persib," said Essien and Ezechiel's agent, Mathieu.
