German giants Schalke 04 have kicked off negotiations with FC Zurich over Raphael Dwamena ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Swiss newspaper Blicker, the Royal Blues have opened talks with the Ghana international for a possible move in the summer following his impressive performance for FC Zurich in the just ended Swiss Super League.
Schalke manager Domenico Tedesco is looking to bolster his attacking ranks ahead of their return to the UEFA Champions League next season, and have identified the 22-year-old as an option.
The 22-year-old was close to joining English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion last summer but the deal was called off in the final moments after he was reported to have failed a routine medical.
This season, Dwamena, who can play in any position across the frontline, made 32 league appearances involving 28 starts for Zurich, scoring nine times.
Dwamena who joined Zurich from Austria Lustenau, last year, scored a combined 30 goals over the course of last season.
