Partey was sent off for a poor challenge on Toni Kroos
Ghana star Thomas Partey was sent off as Real Madrid beat Atletico 3-1 in the Madrid derby to overtake their city rivals into second place.
Thomas Party was sent off in the 86th minute after a foul on Toni kroos which led to a second yellow card.
Atletico Madrid suffered their first defeat at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium since moving to the new stadium a year ago.
Casemiro put Real ahead with a volley but Antoine Griezmann equalised after scoring a one-on-one.
Sergio Ramos restored the visitors’ lead with a penalty and Bale converted from Luka Modric’s pass to ensure the win.
The defeat means Real Madrid have now overtake their rivals to the second position of the Spanish la Liga.
